so........like most of you ive been guilty of spending too much money(or wasting money)on  equipment and stuff i dont really need for my business.now after 7 years wfp its about keeping expenses/outgoings down and making as much profit as possible.even though i turn over 40k+ a year,after all my taxes,insurances and expenses have been paid im lucky if ive got 30k-32k profit for the year.hardly a fortune but im reasonably happy with it.(i can live on it quite comfortably).

so what do i think have been a waste of money over the last 7 years?

1.gas heaters and buying gas(i was spending around £600 a year on it!not including the price of the heater!)

2.shorter extreme poles(under 30ft) used as every day poles(£££££££s spent)not robust enough.

3.vision or any other additive(not needed,cost minimal but still spent £60-£70 on it!)

ive literally spent thousands of pounds that in hindsight was not needed to run my business.

Brodex 25ft hydra alloy used for a week before discovering Gardiners, I'm not 100% sure but I think it was around the £180 mark.
Dragonfly indoor pad system £500 including pads, £350 for a machine to spay the glass and all I needed to do was spray the pad.
4.8kw Gutter vac with alloy poles that cost £1500 and needs a generator the incredible Hulk would have trouble lifting in and
out of the van.
50000 professionally designed leaflets that cost a small fortune to design and print,  I know they work for some but got me absolutely no work.
A garage full off useless gadgets and brushes mainly from Unger.

haha same! i gave my 25 ft hydra away to another window cleaner(i almost felt guilty afterwards! ).

i also bought the unger hi-flow kit with a 30ft teleplus pole and a massive brick of a brush before i went fully WFP!

a streamline orange glass fibre 20 ft pole was probably my worst purchase along with a pure freedom 50l trolley and 10 barrels!!

I'm too tight to go wasting money on kit unless its totally worn out and needs replacing.
I also don't get carried away with hype nor find the need to go buying stuff if I feel its not really needed.

Lol its helped me reduce my tax bill thats for sure since going wfp instead of trad.
Gone are the days from ordering scrims and replacement rubbers, cheap outgoings to now replacing membranes, new brushes a small collection of poles and brushes. Never mind gooseneckss and switches or valves, bags of resin etc etc the list goes on n on

Gas heater, tried Vision - no need for it. Too many brushes. Seem to go through a lot of expensive gore tex footwear that's about it. The novelty of the latest gear has long worn off. I see the latest lightest fantastic Ultimate, Supremely fast flocked, mono, pigs hair, dual trimmed sticky out brushes and just can't be arsed anymore.

Any kind of cleaning product like TFR, Virosol, Ubik and G101, cif beats them all hands down for anything plastic

My very first guttervac I bought donkey years ago was a 4200w 110 volt with T1 ali poles. Wet vac's don't tend to last long but used the poles for years  and still have them. Now they are just used as a backup if/when required.

Lets just say I  like to get my moneys worth out of the kit I buy. lol
