Hi, I'm after some advice regarding my SLX-39. I'm starting soon on a building but my SLX-39 doesn't quite reach the top windows. I can't afford to buy an Xtreme or similar but I'm prepared to buy the extra couples of sections that I need. Does the SLX perform ok over 40ft or am I wasting my money? I won't need to reach over any awkward roofs etc, it's just straight up and down with easy access. Any advice or past experiences would be much appreciated, cheers.

I haven't personally gone higher then about 37ft with an slx and to be honest i wouldn't want to. I go to about 45ft with an extreme and that still has a decent bend in it and not ideal. I reckon its still going to do the job ok but its definitely going to have a good bend in it and be hard work, but if your not using it at that height often would probably be ok and just stick an extreme brush on the end with a carbon gooseneck will help to.

Cheers, yeah I won't be using it often. I use an SLX-18 for the majority of my work and that's brilliant. If I had several jobs at that height I would probably save up for an Xtreme. It's just I don't want to fork out 200-300 quid on some extensions if it won't be up to the job. The other problem would be the weight. A fully extended 39 weighs a ton, dread to think what a 50 footer feels like!

I'm no expert, but

the SLX range goes up to 47ft with a reach of 52ft surely they've been tested at that hight to make sure there usable and fit for purpose. 

I imagine you'd have to be sensible and take the wind into consideration, other than that go for it

Completely agree. I used my slx with 2 extensions this morning on a monthly job where I need to stand in the road. At 35' up and down it's ok but, to move it to the next window extended, I often think it will snap due to the bend. I don't drop it to move to the next window.

If you can bounce it across the walls between windows so it doesn't whip when away from the wall, that's what I use to do with a 60ft Tucker pole
