I didn't use the "O" ring, I just taped the hose to the gooseneck with electrical tape. Works a treat

When i fitted mine i adjusted the brush to the maximum angle i would use it at and then crimped the ring tight to the hole where the pole hose comes through the goose neck.

yes you do.
if you dont itll keep popping off the brush at height.very annoying when your trying to crack on!

I didn't bother with the O ring and it works fine for me (never had a problem).
However, if you angle the brush to less than 45 degrees, then it can pop out.
