Here's a top tip. Make up some fliers from a bogus company that does not exist offering an unbelievable offer of a window clean  @ £5 more than you charge. Pop these through your custys doors several months in advance of your price rise and they'll all accept your pound or two increase with no quibble. May the flier really proffesional looking, and if you get a call of it you'll know you're a crap windy too !!!!!    ;D

I knocked these little flyers up with vista print. A little bigger than my business cards to post or leave with my clients.

These ones are for work i have taken over and they are going up by atleast £5min

I cannot understand why anybody would use vista print to save a few quid! Use a local printers who will design it, proof read it and show you a test card before printing. If you are not too good at spelling/wording they will offer advise as they do it for a living.
I would never ever use vista print, as a spelling mistake or badly worded phrase on a flyer/ticket does not carry your business very well.

Vista print is fine - just put it up on here for proof reading and criticism before sending it off to be printed.

Vista Print is fine.....I've had proofs to read from printers before with spelling mistakes so at the end of the day it's still down to you.
Passed a salon last week with a beautiful sign outside,,,,it said Hairdresing Salon.
And in town you can get a Spry Tan among other things.

Not sure why you need a long explanation as to why you're increasing your prices. Most people understand the reason why. I tend to tell the customer face to face if I can otherwise I just jot something down on the back of their invoice.

You usually know it's time for a price rise when customers ask "Is it still the same price?"

Im not one of those shiners though that need to put their prices up by 50p or a pound each year. Each new job gets priced quite well, that its still a good price after a couple of years or so. But there comes a time when my good prices are too low behind ny excellent prices and so i have to close the gap, but that can be some time. So my customers are not used to price increases from me

Just blame brexit.

That worked out fine for Unilever.

I just put the price up. The tickets through the door with the new price. Lot easier.

Peeps do expect prices to increase from time to time. The only reason why some cleaners don't bother is the fear of loosing work.

I do very little residential now but kept some of the bigger stuff(40 ish jobs)   £60 to £210 however now vat registered so had to put these up by 20% plus £3 to £5 for "overheads going up" so 60 quid now 75 quid .. explained in a short letter about vat etc.

Though I would loose a few but so far lost none  :)

Sometimes we over think the situation - moral is just do what's right for your business.

Remember watching a youtube video of a guy giving out landscaping advice (keith kalfas) and he says wanna know how to attract higher paying customers ?? ................ charge more !

Put your prices up - dissolve the bottom to expand the top.

How long have you been focused on commercial? Do you find it easier getting commercial work than domestic?

Being totally honest- if my wc added 4 quid tax onto me I also would cancel and find a none vat registered one without a second thought.
