Wondering what you have all found to be  the easiest and most cost effective tank baffles?

I have a 500l lay flat tank. The lid is quite large so that should make baffle choices easier. I was thinking cut down soil pipe or plant pots cable tied in pairs

I bought a 500l upright tank, supposedly baffled........a wydale tank. It is kinda, as due to tank design it is segmented nearly into a 250l divide. I was baffled as to why i still suffered from sloshing feeling every time i stopped. Then realised.
I use 200 soft plastic balls for kids play pits. £5 for 100 balls. Puncture holes in balls n throw them in tank. Job done n cheap as chips

IMO the baffling in Wyedale tanks is pretty effective. It also allows for easier cleaning.

I had a trailer with 3 x 125 liter unbaffled tanks fitted length ways. When those tanks where half empty, then we knew what sloshing and rocking was all about.

Correct me if i'm wrong please, but weren't early Ionics tanks unbaffled?

200 doesnt fill the tank by any means, but its enough for it to be effective. I first only put 100 balls in but i could still feel it but only slightly. The extra 100 certainly worked. I have thought about putting more in, but its not required

Wyvale tanks are not baffled at all,a proper baffled tank will be divided up into 8-10" honeycomb divides throughout. Fire engine baffling technology,water is contained in secments not allowing it to slosh about.

 Iv always used wydale tanks you get a little movement but never had any problems with them. Unless you got a shed load of cash to spend on the newest tank selling gimmick get a wydale I'd say it's the most used tank.

Vans have been known to flip over with a whyvale tank on board,speak to Neil at
Plastic watertanks if you need to know anything about wyvale tanks,it'll make your hair curl,they are not baffled.

To get a properly baffled custom made tank might cost £250-£300 more over a Wydale tank. It really is not that much more, especially considering you should have the tank years.

Added advantage is the Wydale tanks are clear and so prone to Algae growth.

Also you have the custom tank built to what size suits you best.
To me the upright Wydale tanks are too top heavy (not good in a collision) and IMO the flat tanks are too shallow (could be awkward pumping the last few inches of water).

To solve the problem of not being able to get all the water out of a flat tank wedge up the front so the water is slightly angled down hill towards the outlet,problem solved you'll get every drop out i did it with 2 tapered wedges on a flat tank of a fellow WCs tank.

why?

ive had the same tank as you for years.its fine as it is.the sloshing is hardly noticeable.

I had a wyvale tank when I first started WFP when I pulled up at the traffic lights it brought back memories of a cross channel ferry crossing I did years ago,if you are doing local trips and not getting about 50mph maybe but if your doing any motorway driving I'd think again. Give Neil a ring see what he thinks of em lol 😂

i went to the isle of man on a school trip when i was around 8 years old.ill never forget how rough the irish sea was on the way back!seriously scary! .

I'ld be parked up at traffic lights and depending which car/driver pulls up at the side, i used to get various types of looks.
Im sat there rocking or head bopping like a pigeon lol     if its a boy racer he laughed n sped off as if i was gonna race him  for instance. Dread to think what the old dears thought but they did have strange expressions on their faces as they watched me rock back n forth in some type of fit 

We all know that wydale tanks are not fully baffled or baffled.  Esp down to NWH, at every opportunity to say so,,,,,sometimes i feel the urge to start a thread just to wind some characters up on here.......thinking about " how easy to install a wydale tank with bungee clips  "

I was starting to think someone had a axe to grind with wydale tanks or a back hander to promote another tank. Does anyone actually no someone who has had there van tip over that was caused by a wydale tank. And not some cock end tanking round a country lane a 70 first thing in the morning and the blind bend appears from nowhere.

Suppliers use them not coz they are safe and ideal for WFP they use them
Coz they can obtain them as cheap as chips,they can turn £100 odd quid trade add a pump a reel and pole and ask newbies to give em 3 grand for it,some even try and get round the fact that there crap by getting them made in black too 😂

A 500 litre tank with about 400 litres in it does not bare thinking about unbaffled.......400kg sloshing from one side to the other as you corner cannot do your van any good

True, though its not like you would have 400l at one side of the tank at any one time. Plus it is confined to a set space which also limits its motion and force. Though it does highlight how important it is to use the correct bungee cord to anchor the tank down. But thankfully wydale combats that by integrating within its design, a means to baffle the tank.

I wouldn't say it sloshes side to side , I've got a hole in my tank lid to put my tube in for my trolley, I hardly ever spill any because I'm conscious of what is in the back. I turn corners very slow  and I don't stop sharply . If your gonna drive your van like you do your car , then you will get sloshing
