Anyone pass their hose through the van floor?
« on: February 10, 2017, 05:05:28 pm »
After having the van nicked earlier in the week I'm thinking that when I get set up again I want the hose to pass through the van floor so the back doors are also closed.

I've seen the below product and video:

https://www.waterworkswindowcleaning.co.uk/security-pulleys.html

From 55 seconds on: https://m.youtube.com/watch?v=jo6btTOwXzQ

Has anyone bought or made something similar?

Any good? Positives/negatives?

Cheers lads,

Kay

I just used the three rollers from grippatank.

2 squares the same to sandwich the floor of the van.

Then a right angle roller.

Really easy to do to be honest.  Use a circle hole cutter, draw your template and jigsaw the floor of van, then attach rollers together with the bolts.

Nice and safe and secure.

I use one of water works steel rollers. The same as in the floor. They aren't that good. As soon as hose kinks it stops. Ok through back door, but if you have to bend down :(
Get a simple roller like one above. All 4 rollers at the same level. Not 2 behind 2

My set up is very similar to Johny 87 works ok but I think it could be improved , it's hard work pulling the hose through the rollers compared to a free standing reel , Ime sure someone will come up with an improved version soon

Those rollers from grippy tank are rubbish. Any slight pressure on the rollers and they scrape on the metal there not designed for the hose to be pulled at any sharpish angle. I had to drill the rivets out and then file the metal back so the roller would not come into contact with it when pulling the hose against them enabling the roller to move freely.

Life's never simple is it?

Some saying it's good, others rubbish.

Don't know whether to bother now.

Hi Jonny,

Can you confirm which products you used?

I'm not sure what you mean when you said three rollers from grippatank and a right angle roller?

Cheers

just lock the cab and side door.no ones gonna try and nick your tank out the back of the van! ;D

what exactly is worth nicking in the back of your van?a pole maybe and a leisure battery/controller. ::)roll

or do you carry gutter vacs and pressure washers with you every day?

I don't fancy closing my van doors and filling up the van with carbon monoxide.
Even with a flu my water heater still omits a few fumes.

I honestly love my rollers.  I can even pull the hose out to the front of the van. Absoloutley no problems at all, very little resistance.  I do use a powerup reel though so not sure if that makes a difference (I don't think it should).

Here is exactly what I bought ;

2 of these

1 of these (small)

They honestly work a dream,  mayb they have been set up differently for someone else to not work properly, but for me in my set up it's perfect.
