Are you keeping the tank then?  ;D

I would stick a whole bottle of cheap bleach in, fill it up, leave overnight then fully drain it.

Just bleach is sound, I have used hypo.

Fill tank up with bleach in it run it out threw hose, leave it sit sit for a while if u want, I just discount di bottles,  so u go from pump to hose reel connector and run it out through the hose on hose reel, once u happy it clean just keep running tap water through, I normally do at least 2 -3 full tanks, sometimes have done more, u will still be able to smell the bleach but no effect on water tds levels once u connect di bottles back up.

When u have finished, u will know how to soft wash and be posting in the general cleaning section  ;D

I suppose in your case you'll have the tank out of the van. You could just spray some disinfectant into the tank, or some bleach ,  wash it out with a hosepipe and tip the water out.

I've had debris / sand or something in mine so I used my gutter vac and hoovered all the water out a couple of times

You know when it is time to bleach a tank when you see wiggly things swimming in it  ;D
