Since my car has just been written off, it looks like I'm going to take a jump to a van instead. It'll be much easier, and look a lot more professional.
The problem i have is which van should i buy?
It would be nice to buy a primistar or a vito, but these are a little out of my price range at the moment.
I see loads of astra-vans and escort-vans for sale in the autotrader, but i am guessing these would be too small.
Any advice guys?

There is some great looking vans on the forum, some of the guys have really got some good looking ones but ive only got an old Bedford Rascal i get 8, 25ltrs of water in which covers me for what i need per day.  Next year im hoping to get a newer van

Talking of my old van theres a window cleaner in the area that i do that seems to think its funny to slag me off with Gaza, taking the p**s out of my van.  It may be old and bright but it is also sign written and i always go to work smartly dressed in my uniform and looking professional, i guess hes just jealous : and theyve got nothing better to chat about

I would recommend when you get as van to get it sign written then you dont look like just some dodgey bloke in a van, your customers will know who you are and you will pick more business up.

yeah, i deifatly will get it sign written, but i just can decide which one to get. What do you think of a transit?
I no its not the best of vans, but they are ecconomical and do the job i want

Have you thought about  estate car a w/c i know says they are just as good as vans i think i will get one soon as i have got a car but i need to upgrade.... (one step at a time  )

You could get yourself a 4 door pick up like i use, brilliant workhouse can carry over a 1000kg comfortably looks the dogs, loads of room and doubles up as a perfect family car with room for 5 adults.

Good advantage aswell is, all your kit is kept seperatley so you can keep the inside mint, they may cost a bit more to start with than a van but they hold on to there value a lot longer, at the end of the day though Leekson i think it just comes down to the individuals choice but i wouldnt buy an estate car.

My mate has one and is wfp and it stinks inside where water has been spilt by the time he sells it the car will be rotten.

i've borught a fiat doblo van from vansdirect.co.uk great van. it was very cheap and does 60mpg. you cant ask for anymore

I have a nissan cargo carries a ton and is very reliable. Local authority use these alot so they must be good vans. The new vans out now are much lighter on fuel though it depends on what your budget is.

I use an escort van, it does the job but as i grow i would like something bigger, i've looked into getting a transit they are after all THE BACKBONE OF BRITAIN

1145kg payload.

I carry a backpack, 800ltr tank, 2x24' poles, 3x18' poles, 2x mini poles, all my trad w/cleaning gear, and I still have bags of room spare.

My mate just bought a fiat doblo a couple of months back and as a 400ltr tank in and he finds it to small, when he looks at mine he wishes he had a bought the ducato.

Its great value brand new, about £8300.00 +vat.

If you ever spill water it drains from the back or from the front as it as a false floor in so you can never flood the van.

Fully recommended.

I have an ford escort van and also a transit 120.

The escort has been a good little van but it was a struggle getting all my gear in it my trolley water barrels and hoses etc.
The transit there is plenty of room mine will probably take a 800ltr system as its the heavier payload swb model.

I think if i was only going to use a trolly i would have still got the transit as i does not struggle like the escort and more space to hide my junk.

Its an old 1994 M reg with 11 months MOT, Tax runs out the end of the month.
Its got a bit of rust come through nothing major i have stuck it on ebay to see what i get for it.

is there anyone here that uses a small van like a astra-van, or an escort-van(That is, for WFP). I only use the backpack, at the moment.
I Just want to get an oppinion on it before i part with the money.

i use an escort 55 van for wfp. I have a 250 litre tank, freedom trolley and another 25 litre barrel for the trolley.
I have a ladder and 4 poles, 3 on the roof.
They are quite dependable i believe and spare parts are cheap and plentiful.
Most days i can get through a day with 250 litres but many times i think of getting a bigger van and tank.
They are cheap to buy and easy to maintain.
A good starter van though.

i reckon this van i have is a decent size not too big but not too small its a fiat scudo 1.9td , ... my van has a 800kg payload and plenty of space in the back paid £1500 for it in january ... so not too pricey. transits are good vans also though very reliable and cheap as chips to run.

i have a escort van with a 250litre tank in it, it lasts me about 3 days if i am carefull with the water but other then that i would recommend one.
