any one help me out on this one?

a potential new customer wants to make sure in the 'contract' that there is a confidentiality clause.

what do i need to say in the contract to cover this?

The C.C.'s that I have apply to commercial information.... ie staff cannot disclose customer addresses, account balances, supplier details, etc.

I imagine that this customer wants certain things about her home / office, which might be observed by you and your staff, to be kept confidential.

You could always ask the customer to draft the clause as a seperate agreement, and after reading it you could then have each cleaner sign it.... that puts the onus on writing and wording the clause back on the customer's shoulders.

Clause from my employment contract

19.3   You will not at any time either during your employment or afterwards, to the detriment or prejudice of the Company or the Company’s customers, use or divulge to any person, firm or company, except in the proper course of your duties during your employment by the Company, any confidential information identifying or relating to the Company, details of which are not in the public domain, or such confidential information or trade secrets relating to the business of any customer of the Company which have come to your knowledge during your employment.

Contract Security and Confidentiality

Staff allocated will be made aware of security procedures carried out and expected to adhere to them at all times.  Staff will not use or divulge any confidential or sensitive information to any person, firm or company relating to the customer or customers clients.

We used to have something to cover this in our contracts back in a previous "existence".

I will see if I can dig something out over the next few days.

From memory it was reciprocal - ie applies to both parties and is gmeral in nature rather than specific
