ok I have a question, I'm going into the business with a friend who use to do window cleaning years ago. and he talking about doing average 50-60 houses per day each, 2 of us working together,  as i haven't done this before i can see me being a little slower then him at first, but i wonder what the average amount an experienced window cleaner would do per day, and how long per day it would take them,  as looking for rounds that are big enough to pay both of us a wage but is also manageable while giving a good service.

I think your friend has been listening too much to some of the keyboard warriors on here.  What is a house? 2 bed masionette? 5 bed detached? NOTHING matters apart from ROCI. How much you turnover per hour/day/week/month/year - costs is all you need to worry about

Why is he a dreamer someone on here must be doing 55 to 65 house's on there own they just haven't come forward yet. I'd be interested to see how long it takes to do a 4 bed I thought there was supposed to be some videos being made. Perhaps they were that quick iv missed them.

most window cleaners will average 15-25 houses a day of "run of the mill" work depending on how compact the work is.

if your just starting out then you ll be doing well if you clean 7-8 houses a day.

3-4 an hour when up to speed.maybe 5.

I'd say 100 is a lot , 80-90 houses per day each is more achievable. Not only that , considering you don't have any work yet , I would say it wouldn't take you long to gain 3200 customers ( 80x2 x 4 weeks)

you will have to work 10 hours "on the glass" a day to clean 50-60 houses a day(unless their just fronts only) which you ll never do.

terrace houses all compact then maybe 2 men could do 50 / 60 a day

3 and 4 bed semis with conservatories spattered over a 5 / 10 mile radius in blocks of 2 or 3 (if your lucky and work hard in 5 years you may have a by todays standards  compact round) 2 men maybe 25 to 30 houses but prob more like 20 to 25

first scenario at £5 a house = £250 to £300
second scenario at £15 a house = £300 to £375 on the lower figure

if you cant get those kinda prices and your doing 3 / 4 bed semis at £5 each then I would go and do something else.

One customer today,  one tomorrow, two Thursday and one Friday.

Okay - looking at your short post history I see you are looking to buy a round in Lancashire so I guess your mate is talking about fronts only on a fortnightly clean sort of thing from years gone by.

The world (tho' maybe not Lancashire) has moved on and most of the answers you get here will be from those using waterfed pole, many of whom will have never worked using traditional methods.

They will also aim to do semi's and larger and so will not be thinking of rows and rows of terraces in the lee of dark "Satanic Mills".

You will also get a lot of banter from those of us who think we are clever wags.

If you have a thick skin and enjoy exchanging words then you will find this forum a helpful and useful place where you can find good advice to grow a window cleaning business.

Its a windup, but if not head up to Priorwood Drive Dunfermline as there's plenty of compact 3 or 4 bed detached properties
at £7 a pop where 45 a day is easily achieved.
Undercut them to £4 which should get you the lot, work a bit harder and knock out 60 a day each which should get you around £90k a year between the two off you.
Problem is as a partnership with that turnover you will have to go VAT registered, but don't panic  just do another 4 or 5 properties each to cover it.

Is your friend talking traditional methods or water fed poles?
If traditional, i would just recommend practice, practice and practice on your own windows first and perfect your technique. Thats what i did, watch videos if you wish but many have different techniques in blading and its best to find what works best for yourself. It would be best to work together, one upstairs and one down. So if your not confident on ladders, you can speed round downstairs.

You right that you would be slower to begin with. But with a compact round or good work leading to a good reputation it will increase your work load and income obviously. So if you can stick it out it will become easier and gou have the option when savings increase to upgrade to wfp which will make it easier.

First basic questions you should be asking yourself are the following:

Do I really want to get into window cleaning?
Am I really cut out for the job?
What are the H&S risks involved?
What are the financial risks involved?
Could I work with a so say friend and not fall out over money?

Most will fail for one reason or another within the first year as it's not as easy as people make out it to be.

To answer your question the number of cleans per day is irrelevant if you ask me and your mate is living in cuckoo land.
100-120 houses a day between the two of you...Good luck with that one

May I ask are you fully funding this new venture by any chance?

I never claimed to clean 45....it was 44        Has that calculator of yours not run out of batteries yet  .
What do you turnover yourself? What average hourly rate do you achieve?

Start small and build it up.


Why do you have to go all in spanking off 40 houses a day like headless chicken. Take it easy think it through.

Start off aiming for  a turnover amount per day.  100 quid is a nice starter figure enough to cover the bills and a bit left over.  Once you have a tonne per day then keep adding work,dropping work, uluppingbthe prices, getting more compact,being more efficent etc. Then keep looking to increase the daily take, the only Limit on what that is will be your area and how efficent you are at running a business.  You may even be able to do 46 houses a day like some of these lads do eventually.

but what you have to remember is sometimes you have good days too, so it won't always be that bad.
