Advice with Starting up Gutter Vac Cleaning
« on: December 04, 2016, 12:29:29 pm »
I do Carpet, Upholstery & Oven Cleaning currently, and other types of cleaning in the past

What I have done previously, is bought lower powered machinery, tested the market, then upped my game and kept my first sets of equipment as my backups.

Im not looking to spend £800-£1200 on these gutter vac systems, which is essentially a wet and dry vac, then it ending up in my garage if this add-on doesn't suit me.

I have heard of people using these type of machines

Nilfisk 1400W wet/dry vac:  £115

https://www.amazon.co.uk/Nilfisk-DIY-30T-Multi-Vacuum/dp/B00CHKNIJ6/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1480854439&sr=8-1&keywords=Nilfisk+DIY+30T+Multi+Wet%2FDry+Vacuum+30

3000W Wet/Dry Vac - £199

https://www.amazon.co.uk/3000W-Double-Motor-Vacuum-Cleaner/dp/B00OTR6QIK/ref=sr_1_2?s=kitchen&ie=UTF8&qid=1480850587&sr=1-2&keywords=wet+dry+vacuum+3000w

I have seen 30ft of preowned aluminium poles going cheap too.

Any advice would be great.

Thanks

I did the exact same and went for the Sky Vac small with 40ft carbon poles, all in £750
i haven't looked back its all I need, it has done every job so far and a large school,

what I will say is you have to be very neat and tidy, wash with water all pipes and keep everything clean to keep perfect suction.
I would not go with alloy poles, carbon every time

Cheers Gaz,

Also for Nilfisk users,

I have found this for £54.99 - Titan full aluminium wet / dry vac.
http://www.screwfix.com/p/titan-ttb430vac-1400w-30ltr-wet-dry-vacuum-cleaner-240v/70472

This has airflow of 5400 Liters per minute,

Compared to Nilfisk 30t of 4000 Liters per minute.

so that would make the titan a good 30% more powerful in terms of lift/suction, than the nilfisk...and half the price?

i bought my set up from guttercleaningsystems after researching plenty, i went for them as theymake theyre own full carbon fibre poles that are 50mm bore and they make theyre own attatchments too, they seemed to know theyre onions after speaking to them and i even went for the 1250w vac after alex suggesting i went for that over the bigger 3kvac due to room and the size of the vacs and i have to say its done everything ive asked up to now.
be carefull with other pole manufacturers if your going for carbon as they say theyre carbon but not full carbon inc skyvac who are part fibreglass and they do the smaller bore poles too so i imagine theyve got more chance of blocking up as you will be sucking through a few pieces of render and broken tiles from time to time!!
make sure you have some ladders too though as guttervacs wont always clear everything like elbows etc and personally i think i camera is a must too.

skyvac 1400w  -  £456.00

Titan Wet / Dry 1400w  -  £54.99

exact same machine, just renamed and sold with the poles alongside.

not sure on the weight of the alloy flag poles people use but i know its a lot more than the carbon fibre.
i went for the 30ft carbon fibre set up with the 1250vac on the thinking that the poles alone are £365 and the full set up was £435 so i was paying £70 for the vac and vac hose and i thought if the vacs crap i'll just go buy a decent vac off ebay etc but its honestly been bang on for the jobs i need it for and it small and portable, i believe alex i selling 1800w vacs now but cant find them on theyre website!
heres theyre website pal

on theyre website they say alloy 600grams and carbon 320grams, thats nearly half the weight saving lol, but remember its when its all put together and your swinging it about hanging it over conservatorys!
if your not a wfp'er too i'd personally say you might struggle more unless your a very fit lad who throws weights about in the gym!

Weight of the pole are doubled once you get some wet gutter mess on the inside of them. Glad I didn't go for aluminium.

Just for clarity, the aluminium poles you mention are 600 grams they are 4' long (120 cm) the carbon fibre are 320 grams and are 5' 7" long. The aluminium of the same length are 920 grams including clamps.

probably the best deal, if i buy everything separate to try and save a few bob, i will end up paying the exact same anyway.

Going to put out a few feelers to see if I get booking enquiries first though when I add to my services

I use this

http://www.guttercleaningsystems.co.uk/gcs1250.html

It does a job, but to be honest if i was planning on doing more than a couple a week i would go for the 3000 watt carbon one at about £800

Its ok, it does the job  but ally poles are heavy and it does get blocked quite easy

I've had the big vacs and they are good but a total pain in the arse to manoeuvre around domestic properties particularly when loaded up with crud. They are top heavy to store in the van too. I use a Nilfisk 30. It's ok but needs a bigger inlet. I might buy that 1800, perfect size for domestic work and won't blow the customers electrics.

It's hard work with 4 carbon poles would hate to think what it would be like with allys.
Impossible done straight away, miracles can take a little longer.

I bought a titan from screwfix and it broke after a week. Took it back and got offered a new one or a full refund.
I took the refund as it was crap anyway  ;D

i started with the ally poles  just to start off  to see if it worked for me   they are awfully heavy after a days work but i sat down and thought about it and i upgraded to the carbon set from alex  at  guttercleaningsystems    and the difference  is shocking  so light  there such a step forward
