Any cons about exceed tubeless?
« on: November 25, 2016, 09:31:49 pm »
Ok so I thought I'd give it a while before I order the tubeless set up just in case there's teething problems, I can obviously see the pros ( time saving!) .
Are there any cons though or is everyone pretty pleased with it?
Cheers! 👍

Main con for me I like to use the pole hose on the outside of my poles so would be pointless.  ;D

Hmm I see your point, but I see a lot of time saved not having to coil the pole hose up and the protection of the rectus fittings , a money saver too

Adding and removing pole sections is also another con for me.

I like it far quicker and no coiling up pole hose , only down side is the thinner hose going onto your reel when you try and pull it around the corner of buildings it snags a lot more with the joint to the micro bore unless you take all the pole hose in your hand and just drag the microbore hose , I have converted all my poles to this system

Something else to faff about with and potentially go wrong/ leak and for the life of me I cant see how being able to
take part of my hose off is going to save me time.

If you want to try the tubeless concept without spending a lot just use a JG fitting a the bottom of your pole. No need for a bung in the bottom of the top section. If you're using reinforced pole hose you'll need the barbed JG hosetails as well, if you're using PU hose just cut it 2 inches from the bottom of your closed pole and fit a JG connector.

Oh! I find that an advantage with the tubeless system. Much of my work can be done with 25' pole  but every now and then I need the 35/44' extension. All I do is disconnect, put extensions on, reconnect, off I go. Quite a rapid process, whereas before it was, disconnect take out pole hose, extensions on, pole hose back up pole, reconnect. Much quicker with tubeless. Imo.  :D

There is less to go wrong. I'm using the same female rectus fitting from when I first fitted it 2 years ago. It really does prolong the life of the rectus and makes packing the hose up quicker.

That's what I was thinking, my rectus fittings get changed a couple times a year

There are no cons for me.
Fittings last ages
Dry van, no pole hose water escaping , that's what sold it for me
No tangled hose as it's disconnected when winding in
The blue hose is so good I use 100mtr of it doing away the joint to  6 or 8mm

How do you stop the water flowing when you disconnect?
The female retus in the kit stops the flow.

When you disconnect  your hose the water comes out the end of the pole..so no more frozen water 💦 in the pole overnight.

Still doesn't make sense, you still need a fitting to connect the pole hose to the reel hose and if I wanted to reel part of my
pole hose onto the reel I would do so without disconnecting it, wouldn't save any time though.
You now have two connections instead of one.

''Are there any cons though or is everyone pretty pleased with it? ''

No cons for me,  only pros.

Pretty pleased with it.

If Gardiners had come up with this idea as standard from day one and then someone had come up with the idea of not going ''tubeless'', how would that have gone down?

No cons for me either.
Apart from the fact Smurf doesn't use/need/want/see the point in it, but that in its self is no bad thing. ;D

Don't see what that has to do with it, as with most equipment if find a use for it then it doesn't matter what others think,
if you makes certain claims about it then you may be challenged about those claims.
The same will go for Gardiners equipment.

There are plenty who haven't went quick lock or swivel.
