I met water  Fed  pole man from Leeds, travelled 60 miles to clean my time waster, who wants a one off.,in my block 5 houses.he was doing free trails .when he finished, the Windows spotty white stripes everywhere. Has anybody met up with this  out fit ? I only travel a 8 mile radius. How does he make it pay?

No idea what you just said, but the only sense I can make from it is.... some guy pretending to be a window cleaner just pretended to clean your windows, and will most likely be back in the very near future ( probably over Xmas) to rob your house, and your 5 neighbours.
Or am I miles off?

Ive heard of the them, cant remember name now. But they advertise a free first clean to try n win you as a loyal customer on wfp. They also give discounted pressure washing jobs. I was a little concerned at first, but never seen them since they came into my areas once. Many people had them for cleaning their drives and again didnt do that great a job, many complaints. I lost a couple of customers to them, but same as what you mentioned, it was only the messers who went over and like i said, ive not seen them back in my areas for a while.

So you met him at your time wasters house? Why where you there?
You know he traveled 60 miles and was doing free 'trails'?  You spoke to him? Why didn't you ask him how he makes it pay?
You waited for him to finish AND then waited for the windows to dry to see spotty white stripes? - what was he washing the windows with to make them go white?
Have you nothing better to do then watch other window cleaners??

Hiya mate. Sometimes i go to Leeds too. Some times its just good to chill, you can take a load of beers with you and just drink and camp out. Sometimes we just play guitar and stuff and put a bucket out and people throw you a few quid..... Anyone can do  "trails " for free, some times i do blood stained ones, or wee , or... [you get the picture]. If you need to further than 8 mile radius i'd suggest getting a bigger fuel tank. Great question though, how it make it pay....... you're barely understandable and he's travelling miles? Sometimes, you just meet the people you're destined to meet. I'm just suprised that you've got online and managed to find this place to be honest.  ;D

You off your nut ? I ask that because i'm not going to hang my head in shame over anything you say, infact i'd sell my own mother. But in terms of wether offering a free clean, to gain business is a viable proposition..then it will depend upon where you are, what you're doing. Doing  free cleans to keep customers is still up there financially with buying work. Infact it will work out cheaper. That in essence is what anyone does when they buy work . Better do it once for nothing, then its yours if you've got it. Rather that pay someone ten tines in advance for the privelege. Thats just my opinion thought mate, its not a fact, thats just what i've done................. i'd give you nothing for a job. And i'd do everything to get one. Wierd eh ?!!

You got me !!!   ;D
So i'm thinking ..is it best to offer free cleans, do maybe ten. get one real customer, although really i reckon you'd get more, or buy work for 10 x the amount ? Make sure you don't leave runs or dribbles though, as you say..its no wonder this forum is dead.
I am Ped though as you say........i've been having a few cheeky ciders, and this forum is dead. I'm gonna wake up in the morning, look and see these replies are not here, i dreamt it.
I've a few personal issues going on mate, i can't go into it here right now...not like it matters as its dead here anyway, but there's "snakey snidey arrogance" going on , i think we can agree on that !!!!!!!!!!!

True, I didn't particularly offer much. Will try harder tonight.

To get back on topic I''ve heard that some do offer a free first cleans as a way of gaining more work and if the customer don't take up a regular clean afterwards (written in the small print) they bill them.  ;D

How was it a stupid question ? he was asking why somebody would travel 60 miles to do a free sample clean or how could
they make it pay.
Personally I would be surprised if this person had travelled anywhere near 60 miles and judging the quality of the clean
would say he's just a newbie making newbie marketing mistakes.

I am guessing you are reffering to UK window clean ?

Based in leeds, but expanding rapidly across the north offering free cleans

I suspect they are travelling to your area as they are looking to expand there and taking the hit along the way - its called business

And please try to make sense, no one is expecting perfect sentences or spelling etc but cmon dude that was just horrible

I think anyone who travels considerable miles to offer a free clean is either very desperate or very dodgy; probably both!
I have a stepson who is 23 years old and autistic and if he posted his opinion on here, I am sure it would not be as legible as Space Monkey's post. I think Space Monkey's question is very valid and I think it's a shame to mock him without knowing his educational, or social circumstances. After all, he is cleaning windows like the rest of us and obviously takes a pride in what he does.
Are we not looking after our own on this site...?

Well said Robbo, I personally didn't see the problem in what was written.

I think Cleanclear makes a valid point regarding buying work vs free cleans. A bought job should only take you half the time of a first free clean, but can cost up to 12 times the value. I personally wouldn't do either, but each to their own.
