Was halfway through a job today whilst setting up at the rear I threw the vac cable down as you do.  Then to my dismay the plug top pin snapped off the plug...Oh ffs what I do now I thought

Apart from having a flounce first luck would have it I had a spare plug in the van (robbed from another power tool) so did not have to use ladders after all.   

Just thought I would share and let people know how I resolved this unexpected downtime as could happen to someone else.

So you broke something and used a spare to repair it?  Do you think this idea would work with other breakages?

I broke the wheel on my van last year, it was all flat at the bottom, (not at the top strangely)  do you think I could have got a spare and just changed it rather than scrapped the van?

I had to use a 60 foot cherry picker last night.

I needed to get it from the store car park to the fuel station.

Can you guess how it got there - just in case someone else has a similar problem?

I'm working nights but a short one so I have had most of the day. I like Smurf but this post .....

It seems from the responses I wasn't the only one.

Today for me has been a really productive day -

I've replied to a substantial tender request.
Spoke to a longstanding client.
Completed the works I'm on 3 days early.
Put myself in a position where I'll do a nominal amount of work in the morning, be paid very well for it and still be up the M5 for lunchtime.

All without asking anyone how to put one foot in front of the other.

Maybe I could have worded it a bit better

I was actually out in the sticks at the time. The job would have been a real bugger to do via ladders so the last thing I wanted was a vac problem. 

As it happened I was fortunate enough to have a power tool in the van at the time to be able to swap the plug over and carry on working with minimum downtime.  That saved me looking like a prat having to ask the customer if I could borrow/buy a plug off him as was miles away from any shops.

However, theres havin a laugh n light humour. Post the humour, fine....but another and another and hey, post another...dont u think its overkill n stops being funny.

Oh I forgot to mention that the vac suction worked a lot better after I gaffer tapped a split in the middle of the hose 
....Handy stuff that gaffer tap as saved me an hour round trip to pick up another hose.

I guess you harnessed yourself up
Had a banksman in front with a white light
Had a banksman at the rear with a red light
Maneuvered the picker at walking pace to your objective within the coned off area as per your RAMS
On Public Road
Got a load loader to take it to the fuel station as per your Rams
