Due to a very high tap tds I was just wondering g if you think fitting one of those in line scale inhibitors would help with protecting the membrane further.
Any thoughts on this

Can I ask what is your mains water tds?

currently about 560ppm +- about 20ppm with the membrane taking it down to about 18ppm with roughly a 65/35 waste ratio . I ask as i dont want to go down the water softener route.

i believe they dont actually stop limescale build up but break it down more so i'm thinking perhaps if its broken down more it will be easier for the membrane to reject more of it. I have one built into the electric shower we use (came already built in) There are also salt free water softeners on the market but there probably more of a gimmick.

dont know just moved into the new lock up with brand new membrane. the point is will it help the membrane last longer, the membrane will always need replacing when required.

I guess you could just try one and see then as I've not heard of anyone else use them for pure water production
