chewing gum remover?
« on: May 24, 2006, 01:37:20 pm »
can anyone help?????? :'( :'(
i have been asked alot to clean shop fronts and entrances which have a fair amount of chewing gum on them but without spending thousands on steam equipment i would like to try and get it off.  are there any sprays, liquids or freeze sprays that would be an easier alternative and by far cheaper.????   any help would be nice. :'( :'( :'( :'(

Is the gum on the path outside the entrance or on the entrance matting??
If on the matting. Prochem do a "bazooka Gum removal systam" which you can see on their web site or should be able to purchase from your local stocklist.
Its around £295 to purchase the unit which you can use standing up, and the chemical can is around the £6 mark.

www.prochem.co.uk for details

Kind Regards

Go to the Prochem website, get their number and give them a call. They are very helpful and will be able to confirm or not if the bazooka is good for stone floors too. I have an idea it will be, because it is basically a gloryfied drill with a metal brush at the end. Worth calling them as you will make money out of it.

If you do a search on the carpet cleaning forum you will see there loads we use, i use alltecs chewing gum remover, another one i tried recently is made by sulotions its not as effective but its less potent as you wouldnt want to be working with the alltec one for long.

There is loads and loads you can use you just apply and scrape of, they come in liquid form, gel, or spray cans.

Another product thats meant to work well wich im sure you will have easy access to is white spirit.

Getting the chewing gum off with white spirit effects the flavour and can give you ulcers.

Use a steam gun and if you're lucky some of the taste will be left.

the best product for removing chewing gum is 'Rid-A-Gum' ... can be used manually for odd stain or through thier dry steam system... the best bit is that it works on ALL surfaces carpet, matting, concrete etc

check them out at www.ridagum.co.uk

Consider hiring a industrial steam cleaner with lance attachment and brass brush nozzel, im sure HSS Hire will get you one, and then buy some `Citrus Oil` to use as a cleaning chemical (enviromentally safe to use) and will remove chewing gum.

I`ve got a bazooka from prochem,
spot on........ you can buy different grade brushes for different surfaces,

BUT be carful on carpets esp cheap nylon carpets if you spend to long in one spot youll burn holes in the carpet   do it in short bursts.......

if you do burn holes tell your clients aliens must have done it as they look like crop circles...............................

GOOD BIT OF KIT JUST BE CAREFUL WITH IT!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Osprey make a small steam and chemical unit called a "gummy" pretty effective and not too expensive. Ideal for hard surfaces.

Carpets, upto four months ago I was using  a Johnsons product called anti-gum. Very effective if used correctly. Not tha too expensive if only doing small areas.

Used it on Nightclub carpets, and you youngsters know they can be like.
