What driving licence  will I need to tow a trailer with my van.  I want to use it for equipment like power washer and gutter vac etc

There are now very precise rules with regards to trailer usage, If the combined weight of trailer and vehicle is 3.5 tonnes you will need a tacho.

ALSO if the trailer is plated meaning it can carry heavy weight  (i.e a 2 tonne trailer ) even if its empty and you using in for hire and reward you still need a tacho

It will say on your driving licence what you are allowed to drive/tow.

Depends when you passed your test if you need to get a trailer category added to your licence or not. If so will mean  taking futher training and passing another test B+E .

If you passed before 01/01/97 you have grandfather rights and don't need to sit B+E if you passed later you need to sit the test for any trailer rated above 1T

As long as you do not travel more than 100 kilometres radius from your base you will not need a tacho.  I was stopped a few years ago by VOSA who said I needed to put a tacho in within 7 days! At the time you could only travel 50km radius. sold my trailers and landy and got vans instead. A few months later they upped it to 100km which I could have lived with!

I was just kidding as thought the vid was funny.

I use to tow a small 2 wheeled trailer about for my pressure washer gear. When I wanted to unhitch it when full sometimes I use to forget to put the jockey wheel down or load it that it was a  bit back heavey so I can relate to that donkey somewhat.  Oops!

I knew a chap donkey years ago that took his driving test in Rhodesia that consisted of driving a banger of a car with holes in the footwells just up and down a dirt track. Needless to say he passed first time.  Mind you he was also armed to the teeth at the time
