Spray on bed liner
« on: August 05, 2016, 04:59:18 pm »
I was told today about line x bed liner and how it was critical that we all seal our vans to prevent rust. I have a bed liner in my navara, but he said water will find a way through the c channels, under the bed and corrode through the floor.  He says he has seen it many times when he fits tanks.  I thought my navara was sealed and nothing to worry about, but now I'm not so sure. What do you guys think?

Agree with Nathan, as long as you don't scratch the van floor down to the bare metal then its not going to rust
a rubber mat to protect the floor is all that's needed in our game.
If its going to rust under the paintwork then it still will as this is caused by rust already in the metal when first painted,
adding more paint to it wont make a difference, tend to get that in Fords.

My Ranger has the factory liner fitted and this seems to be doing a good job of protecting the bed and draining the water.

The D40 Navara's seem to be having a problem in that the chassis are snapping in half.  Might be worth getting that checked as well...

They are designed for the great outdoors. That includes a lot of rain in the uk.

His argument was that water will find a way under the liner and become trapped there. You can't see the damage until it's too late. In my mind the only way water will get through the liner is if there is a puncture or perhaps through a channel bolt. I presume these bolts are factory watertight, so maybe I don't need to worry too much
