GOOD TIP FOR FIRST CLEAN from an old windy.
« on: July 22, 2016, 01:15:42 pm »
I will give this tip only once.  Add half a cup of household bleach to 25 liters of pure and use a back pack/trolly on first cleans a see your window shine and sparkle. Then clean/ rinse with pure. I have heard so many  windies ask what they can use on really badly soiled window and feel pure will not do the . Its the bleach in so many cleaners like Virosol that does the cleaning. Don`t use this mix if your water goes through a R.O. before the pole.  Warning, remember this will damage clothes so be careful and don't breath in .  And to all the negative ones that will knock this , do some research.

I thoughy Virosol was was a citrus degreaser.  ???

Bleach um not sure the plants and grass would like it or anything in the fishpond. I've played about with acid based products and they work well too.

Dont believe everything you read on the bottle. For a company to claim its based on plant matter they only need to add 1%  of the cituce into the formula.
Why bleach works so well, is because if it`s in small amount in a formula: because bleach / chlorine  being a gas will dissolve grease and emulsify  it into the water then the chlorine will evaporate into the air and by the time it hits the grass,  not doing damage to the plants. Soft wash works in the same way but in a stronger way.
WE remove chlorine from water when we make pure to protect the Ro membrane because it will damage and degrade the membrane but it is exactly what we need in window cleaning  pure water.

Bleach isn't chlorine.

Bleach is usually sodium hypochlorite.

Lets not split hairs, Its a chlorine gas/ salt  activated with and oxygen/Hydrogen bond desolved in water. Bleach/sodium hypochlorite. would be the most common name we would use at home and would be recognized by many. This might help those boffs interested and Rosskesava my man.

The reason for no better result is due to the low amount of chlorine in tap water. Its there as an anti-bacteria and more will evaporate out of the water in the preparation for drinking water. Windies are always looking to boost pure water for badly soiled windows and in the cases of detergents they leave a deposit on the glass( Virosol)  Bleach is the active part in these type of cleaners.DI will not remove chlorine and its a gas not a soluble solid. Solids a mostly metals. EG Iron chrome mercury  and lead/ oxides etc.

A small question for you. How do you know your results are not better than others ?.

Always had trouble with tiger stripes think you really need to get up there and remove by hand. Don't really want to do that so explain to customer may not remove all ingrained marks. Not rally happy with the finish myself sometimes. Don't think there much more you can do from the ground

You are there to wash windows and frames. Stains aren't part of the job. They aren't paying for a upvc restore.

I hate leaving frames with stains but a upvc restore costs a lot more.

My personal opinion is that you have to be very careful with bleach. At height you have little control where the droplets of bleach end up. Plants and pond life are concerns and so is one's skin, eyes and clothes.

Calling it softwash doesn't make it any less 'dangerous'.

yeah but when they are paying for a pvc finding something that works from the ground would be a result eh,  as it doesn't completely remove the stains its still down to ladders & magic sponges

I have used this method for about 3 years and I know it might be controversial but for the brave at heart can try it if they wish. I am sure when the first water fed pole hid the windows. |Many  also  thought the chap was mad. I will always push the bar higher  as it`s in my nature to try to improve  my results. It might have seemed crazy using a dangerous gas heater to clean  glass. But if you never try you will never win. I have put quite a few bleach based threads lately  and I see from the remarks that many cannot put two and two together. Bleach is already in most of the cleaning agent we love and use of conservatories. I was the first to use 10lpm  pump at full wack and then many followed and claimed it worked better than  2 LPM. But its was the crazy me that did it first. I will continue pushing the envelope as I have always done.
