As above, been using 300 RO in house to produce pure,      needing more water as and when now,  without having to remember to set up my RO to fill water butt for next day.
At the moment this is the cheapest way to produce pure ,       
What will be my next move up from my 300  RO ,system with 2x10in DI vessels.       I am spending pennies so to speak ,atm,   around 1000 litres being used weekly.
Any suggestions.

I have 450 gpd ro and a 4.5l di vessel on a booster pump filling a 1000 storage tank. Using a 500l tank in van.

I used to have 2 x 10inch di like you but used to top up my van tank direct each night as i didnt think i had space  for ibc tank. However ive now managed to fit it in as i too was getting tired of messing around each night with ro.  Now i only have to top up my ibc tank over wknd ot every 2 wks. Saves a lot of faff.
Maybe this might be an option

A 450GPD r/o would fill an IBC tank (1000 litres) in 28 hours in summer and a little longer in winter - no booster with 40psi water pressure.

A good second hand IBC tank will set you back about £50 collected. There's a place that sells them in West Auckland, 01325 520521. They were advertising them for £35 collected on Gumtree.

Then get a solenoid valve and float switch from PureFreedom. Once the tank is full the solenoid switches off water to the r/o. You take water and it starts processing again. 

You don't have to control it as it does it automatically. Go to bed and leave the r/o to process water. It will switch off when the tank is full.

A 300GPD is big enough to supply your current needs.

i tried an ibc tank, the mrs went mad,    took up too much room,      my kitchens  at the front of the house facing drive,  so it just overcrowded the front of the house.  no access for water at  the rear.  bathroom also facing front.      thanks for the replies.

I'm not a fan of using a small r/o to process water directly into the van's tank. We did that initially, but too many things go wrong and you end up with no water to work with the next day. The tap got switched off; I forgot to switch the tap on etc.

If I did go down that route again I would instal a 4040 with an auto cut out and solenoid valve onto the tank. That way I could couple it up the moment I got home and spot check to make sure the tank is full into the evening. I would always be concerned that the r/o would be damaged by frost if I forgot to put heating in the van overnight in winter for some reason. I would throw a large duvet over it (tank and r/o) so as to limit frost damage.

I would continue to use your water butts as a standby should you need extra water for some reason.

The other possibility is setting your r/o up so it starts up automatically when water is drawn and switches off when the butts are full. You would need to link butts together.

I think you and the missus need to have a heart to heart discussion and come to an amicable conclusion. Your job is part of your standard of living. No water means no income.
