12v pump for filling trolley barrels
« on: May 14, 2016, 05:13:54 pm »
I use my trolley a fair bit and always just suck/syphon  to fill, can anyone recommend a 12v pump to fill them instead, if you can add a link i'd be grateful.  :)

A manager is generally someone who has been promoted to the position by someone else who didn't see them as a threat.
Hence all people are promoted to the level of their incompetence

I don't use one, but do a search for a 12v bilge pump. I'm sure I,ve seen a post o here about them being used for this purpose.

Caravan submersible pumps are okay. Around 12l a minute and inexpensive.

been using this style since 2010

http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Marine-Bilge-Pump-Submersible-1100GPH-12V-For-Boat-RIB-Yacht-/252188695281?hash=item3ab79e1af1:g:9qUAAOSw8-tWWOzP

Each one lasts between 2-3 years.

That there's the one!  ;D ;D

Does that thing really chuck out 1100 GPH?

It says it's all to certified standard, sounds incredible :o  It's a 60 watt motor and 1100gph is about 83.5 lpm.  My Clarke CBM240E is 1000watt and rated at 101 lpm

Just drop this in tank when needed and wire up to 12v?

Yep 12v and go.

It will fill a 20L backpack up in about 10-25 seconds depending on some variables.

That's quicker than my 240v sump pump!

As a transfer pump it will burn out quickly. Shorts bursts it's ideal.

In my combo video there is a demo of it.

Where are you filling your back/ pack from a van tank or a barrel as the access for the pump will make the difference on what pump will work.

If its from a van tank why not just fit a large diameter outlet and hose and gravity fill ?
I have a 1" outlet and hose to fill my backpack and it takes no time at all.

Each one lasts between 2-3 years.

Ordered one of these but the cabling is too short to let it sit in bottom of tank. Now i need to somehow attach more wire whilst keeping it waterproof.

Any ideas?

Looking on youtube and videos showing people using heatshrink. Will any type do or is there one for use in water?

you can buy waterproof joiners for like a £5 that can be submerged in water.

I used heat shrink and then filled the H/S tube with Serius glue and also on the over lap of the next section and its worked for 3 years,
