hose/warranty??
« on: May 09, 2016, 12:13:31 pm »
Did i read on one of these threads that the hose, reinforced 8mm 100m hose has a warranty? Cant find the thread.
I have only been using mine since last june/july and today as ive wheeled it in have i noticed a split running down side of it. Dont use for hot water, only cold and used 4/5days a wk.
Is this usual or a little early for this to happen?

Hose that we supply does come with a standard 12 month warranty against manufacturing defects - the same would be true of most suppliers.

The most common reason for a split hose is that the outer layer has been pulled around a sharp object or corner which leads to a score line. It is unlikely after 11 months of use the outer layer has split because of a manufacturing defect as it would usually have shown itself much sooner.

The first step is to examine the outer layer and look to see if it has been externally damaged. If you are not sure then a photo to the supplier would allow them to give your their opinion on the reason for the split.

Is it too soon? Unfortunately with this issue it can happen very quickly. I once pulled a 2 day old reel of microbore around a corner and slit it on a sharp metal edge (put a 3m slice in the outer layer) - I was less than pleased with myself  :( More usually a series of shallow scores build up on the outer layer as a series of 'war wounds' until one goes too deep.  On other occasions I have had reels last me 5 years plus.

Reading the printing on the hose in the photo this hose is from Purefreedom.

Give them a call as I'm sure they will be able to sort this out for you.

Looks like a manufacturing quality issue to me  for the outer seam to split like that.

Someone else has had the same thing happen to his hose from PF so I wondered what the outcome with PF was on this one Smurf.

Pure freedom was a nightmare to rectify. Basically they admitted its a manufacturing fault. But rather than sending me a replacement hose and taking it up with the manufacturers themselves. They wanted me to cut a large sample piece of and send it to them. Theybwould then send it to the manufacturers and then wait for their outcome etc etc. I couldnt be arsed with all of the fuss and waiting i dont know how long, so ive replaced the hose myself

If it was a large batch run then yes probably quite a few had the same issue. If so then PF should be very aware of the faulty hose they have sold.

Get on to trading standards whoever supplied the hose is responsible for replacing it for you NOT THE MANUFACTURER, that's the law . I had a similar thing with a supplier they wanted photos of the faulty item and for me to send them to the manufacturer and deal with them , I referred it to trading standards, the supplier soon changed there mind then and replaced in immediately, only thing is with your flame it is 11 months old so don't hold out much hope as they will say it's fair ware and tear

Thats exactly why i didnt bother. By the time i would have sent it to purefreedom and i wouldnt like to guess how long they would take in sending it to the manufacturer.....that they would just declare it wear n tear and then i would be in a battle with both parties and i could do without that.
