Is anyone else getting a lot of stone floor cleaning enquiries.  We quoted 2 Saturday (both confirmed)  1 is quarry tile and the other is Victorian tile.  We have quoted another quarry tile today and a black slate.  Two more to quote tomorrow which is marble and the other Brazilian slate.  Waiting to confirm details for 3 more quotes this week.
We've also had confirmation of 110sqm of Victorian tile.
Really looking forward to all this.
Should be receiving the brand new Klindex Rocky package with some extras this week (hopefully)..

Pleased you are doing well!  Most people who have done the courses recently seem to be inundated with work!  The Klindex package is ready but I thought you were collecting it?  Or do you want me to ship it all on a pallet???

Thanks Kevin.
Reference the Klindex I would prefer shipping if not a problem.

With regards to the marble enquiry I'm visiting tomorrow.  Having spoken to the customer he has ruled out grinding which suits me for now as I'll leave that to the levighetor boys till I'm more experienced.  However he does want the shine putting back if possible.
I've read lots of old posts regarding the limits of the pad systems but can it give a satisfactory result.  What is the best process etc.

All advice appreciated as the section of forum seems to be dying off.  To be fair I haven't contributed much but that's because I'm very much in the early stages of this type of work.

You are right about this section but that's because most people who want and respect my advice e mail direct now because every post gets jumped on here and quite frankly I was getting very bored.   So I rarely offer hard floor advice hardly on here anymore.  I will however e mail you direct tomorrow regarding re polishing the Marble and how to best sort it in my opinion.  It would help if you have some photos as well.

Thanks Kevin.  You should have my email address.
David grinding and polishing is the next step forward for us.  Will need more training for that though obviously.  We have been doing a lot of research lately regarding concrete polishing and micro toppings and overlays and we are really interested in the acid staining colours etc and Reflector Enhancer that seems quite big in the states.  Have found a training course just need to make room in the diary

We have already brought a system into the UK.  In fact the first delivery of it arrived today.  We start training the first 10 people next month.  This is a result of nearly 4 years research and spending a small fortune.  This system will revolutionise concrete polishing and toppings.  I will talk to you tomorrow.

Alex good to hear things going well. I've been pretty slack with any marketing so far since our training last year so the jobs so far I've rather stumbled across more than anything else.

What marketing are you focus ing on to get so many enquiries?

Kevin in fairness the posts i jumped in on were the ones where you were recommending to use high alkaline cleaning chemicals based on sodium hydroxide for deep cleaning  Altro safety flooring, i tried many a time to get through to you why such harsh and aggressive cleaning chemicals should not be used when deep cleaning Altro safety floors, i even shared with Anthony how to do the test which proves 100% how detrimental these aggressive type chemicals are on these type surfaces and i have never seen him reply to any post since. In a way Kevin i am actually glad you hijacked this section as i was also getting bored in trying to explain to you the reasons why you should never recommend such aggressive cleaning chemicals when deep cleaning Altro safety flooring.  Just to share my side.   Goodman yourself Kevin, i take it so we are finally agreed on the subject that its safer not to use sodium hydroxide based cleaning chemicals on the likes of Altro safety flooring.

as an alternative to kevins course, cos thats what forums are all about right? I attended a fantastic concrete polishing course up Newcastle way, Ran by steve riley at the advance group, Heres us using some beast of a machine (see video) all though we used standard small levi's as well,  Really interesting concrete polishing was. he also does a stone course as well, which  was great cos we could do what we wanted and ask questions while we were doing it, no sitting in a classroom at all. just get stuck in and try out any diamonds you want, he has a full range to play with as he doesnt sell anything so you can literally test different ones out. Without a doubt one of the best courses ever.  have a chat with john kelly at restormate.  next ones the 5th and 6th of march, highly recommend it.

I've already completed the Marblelife course and really enjoyed it.  Can't have too much training though so will take a look.  Although I think it might be too late to do the march 5/6

Don't get mixed up Alex or caught up in a level of progress that is not achievable.  Regardless of what Derek says, whilst enjoyable playing with the big stuff, you need classroom work as you have to understand the theory and the basics then you need to gain experience!  Then you advance to stone restoration pick up more experience and then on to concrete.  You are in my opinion following the right path.  Basic quality Mono Rotary first, then move on to a Levighetor and gain more experience and then add a concrete kit and then slowly progress to the level you are happy at.  At least this way you are in touch with reality doing it your way and not just having a pipe dream.  In other words you are learning to walk before you run!  Naturally we are not the only training centre and of course as Derek points out there are other courses available such as Restore mate or Mike at Nulife but any good instructor from any of them will agree with me!

Don't forget lots of these big machines are beyond many peoples reach financially and once you have mastered a Levighetor all the big stuff is the same they just have bigger diamonds and a faster work rate (Just like driving, once you can drive a car you can drive anything with more experience.   HGV's are just big cars with more wheels).  This is the reason we have a hire service for bigger machines!!!  If you need a furniture moving lorry now and again you hire, not buy one
The machine in the Video is a Klindex Expander 750, the same as we let everyone have a go with on the free Klindex Course on the 3rd day of every basic course we run.  You also get the opportunity to use and play with:

Klindex Rocky
Klindex Waterfire
Klindex UFO
Klindex Levighetor Single & Variable Speed
Klindex Extrema
Klindex Hercules
Klindex Levighetor Max
Klindex Expander
Klindex Vertika
Klindex Quadra

Training & Knowledge are vital because once you arrive at a clients house especially at stone restoration level you need to instil confidence at that level and it only comes with experience and ongoing help.  Talking the talk and walking the walk are two different things especially with grinding.  Standing in front of a client and telling them your not quite sure doesn't cut it at that level because of the money involved and you will very likely lose the job.

I will chat more with you on Friday!

Totally disagree with Kevin, get out and about and try different courses, You'll learn so much more than just trying one make of machine and listening to one trainer and using  a ltd choice of cleaning solutions and seals.  Variety is the spice of life.

But thats just my opinion.
