Just had a call from some quality firm asking to make an appointment with me to give me a quote for an iso 9001 certificate, just had a quick google and can't really see any benefits (for me) , I didn't have a clue what it was, so will your regular joe blogs form no. 23 pay any attention to it?
Has anyone else been certified?

Sounds like all the BS5750 rubbish and self justification by "course" providers (aka money makers) to me.

Everyone I. Engineering went down this route - led by the likes of British aerospace.

It had practical advantages in the fact everything was traceable and procedures were all written down, downside it cost thousands even for a small firm to get it all in place.

You would even have to have a procedure written on how you store your squeegee, when you change the rubber the location of spares ( all labelled, boxed, and recorded ) and you'd be inspected/audited once a year at your expense

I am a qualified iso 9001 auditor. Yeah you could go fornit but it is a load of work. It also means you can do work for iso accredited companies. Anyone who is iso 9002 should have an approved list of contractors. They can also audit you if required.

You will need a quality manual with all manner of stuff in it.

You will need to keep an audit timetable of your own audits which someone will need to do for you as you cannot audit yourself.


Anything you do in your business wiĺl be required to be written down as standard operating procedures. Ranging ftom tasks such as filling water tank to setting up ro system n di etc. Ye will be required to do all sorts and it costs you to keep someone on top of the quality system.

Aye charge on if ye want mate lol.

Iso won't bring in work and for a one man banned will it will be a lot of grief.
 A lot of accreditations don't bring in jobs  it can just make the tendering process easier.
