400 litre tank fitting
« on: January 02, 2016, 12:14:47 pm »
Just spent a load of money on some fittings and always end up getting the wrong ones !

Anyway i have just brought the tank outlet fitting set :

 http://www.purefreedom.co.uk/water-tanks/fittings/large-tank-outlet-fittings-kit.html

Well this is fine but it seems to small to fit in tank ?  So maybe their should be a part that screws into tank first ? I may have lost it when i brought the tank ,  I cant seem to find it on gardiner or pure freedom , Does anyone know ?       The fitting is half inch that goes into tank.

Thanks

That should be all you need the black threaded part should fit the thread in your tank ( assuming it's a wyvale made tank ) depending on where you got the tank you may find they used a different size thread at the outlet - pictures would help

Actually forget what i said their , It looks like i need 1" to 1 -1/2" fitting or 2"   .

I have an upright 650 in my van also from Wydale but seems to have a slight different fitting .

So the black threaded part falls straight in the tank outlet ??  Please note 3/4" bsp is actually larger than the size given, I doubt it would be 2" bsp fitting - that's enormous

Ok had a look pure freedom have 3/4 outlets the wyvale tanks 1" so to use the pure freedom fitting you need a 1" to 3/4 reducer - easily got from plumbing supplier - hydraulics fitters - b&q etc...

Yes the black threaded part ( 1" ) is slightly to small for the tank outlet  so it must be a part maybe 1 and a half inch that screws inside tank first?

But as it is to small wouldn't i need a 1" to   1and half " ?  They dont seem to do on Gardiner so yes il try B& Q

Cheers

No 1" to 3/4" is what you want

Outside diameter of 1" is 33mm (1.3 inches)

best bet is to throw your tank in the van find a local hose or hydrolaic  place and go and pester them , you will get what you need right away , you can go and try stuff  out in the van  if you unsure and if its a small place the lads will help you out big time

, it will be mostly metal either s/steel or brass and will out last you and your van so you will never need to buy them again , just take them from van to van
