« on: January 01, 2016, 02:00:13 pm »
hi guys n girls as anybody imported  rounds from g to wcp ? if so how do I do it please ? any tips would be good as Ive never done it before and I don't want to lose any off my rounds on wcp (there backed up to the net if needed)

its from someone elses lab top to my lab top as we have just bought them out

will I get all the due dates and address if I mange to do it ?

other way is to print it all out off George then manualy enter it all on wcp which will take hours and hours to do

I'm going by memory as I only had a relatively brief look at both programs quite a long time ago.
I believe that George did have an export facility where you could export as .csv (comma seperated values).  The completed file can be opened in Notepad.  However, that is where the problems may start.  In order to import into WCPro (if it has such a facility), it's unlikely that the fields and records will line up with exactly what you want to do in there.  Also,  due dates are calculations, so the formula rather than just the raw data might need to be moved over.  Unless the author of WCPro has written a routine specifically to import data from George (or a .csv file based on George data) it may well be that manual entry is better as it would be less error prone.
However, it's a long time since I've looked at either program, so things may be easier now.

If you do attempt anything with this, make sure your back-ups are up to date first as the possibility of error is high.

I think your best bet would be to contact the author of WCPro to see if he has written a routine for this specific situation.  Another danger is that, when importing, it might be possible to overwrite data rather than merging it.
I think you really need to either contact the WCPro author or do it manually.

Hi Susan
I don't use WCP, but I've read on this site that the guy who runs it is very good.
Maybe you could send him the file from George and he will put it in for you?
I think I read somewhere that he has done this before (thats why I have mentioned it).
Maybe worthing sending him an email and asking him.
I am thinking of changing over to WCP myself, because I have heard good things about it.
Even if he charges for doing it (which is fair play) it will still be better than you having to.

Hey robbo, you may be confusing wcp with cleaner planner. That latter, Rob will go out of his way with customer service. I wasn't sure wcp was still running/supported

WCP  - is pretty much dead in the water - very hard to get the guys who wrote to even respond to emails when the security licence runs out, cleaner planner was developed rob who would defo transfer files of any format into the program.

I would suggest you move over to cleaner planner Susan

Not really an answer to your question, but I have just switched to aworka, it's excellent (for the way I work anyway) and Chris has been extremely helpful, and also input all my customer details for me, if you switched from your current, to aworka and sent him both customer lists he would get your set up

thanks guys ive tried clean planner but didn't like the terms he had in place(  at the time he may of changed them now ), plus I found it clunky and hard to use

all I want is just to print work sheets off for our three vans northing else and wcp does this very well and is easyer to use then clean planner for me

going to just do it by hand , plus when I email wcp they always get back to me with 12 hours which is great ,

was worth I try thanks guys for you input and I hope you all do well this next year
