I`m cleaning all the carpets in a hotel early in the new year and theyve asked me if I can clean their wooden floor. They just look like bog standard floorboards. Laast year the staff were on their hands and knees cleaning it with white spirit and a towel. Didnt look any different to be honest. Not sure if just an alkaline cleaner and rotary would work on wood?

Dont use alkaline on wood. It turns it black/grey if the wood is bare.

Chances are it needs sanding and refinishing and thats why their hands and knees approach didnt do much.

Neutral cleaner and a red or blue pad is the way to go. If its an oiled floor then a wood soap/refresher should be used.

Bona Soap is what we use. It is a natural soap with some oil in to help refresh the floor.

Most manufacturers of wood floor oils will do one.

Normal neutral detergent is intended for removing oil based soil so isnt ideal on an oiled finish.
