New Brush
« on: December 20, 2015, 09:58:33 am »
Ive always had Gardiners brushes which have served me well , but the most recent one has not lasted at all well.
What  do you recommend guys?
For my next brush im thinking of  my usual fan jets but also having pencils on there to, so any new brush would have to accommodate all four jets.
Also I rinse on so the bristles would not have to be to porous.
Finally looking for lightness with a very good splay.

Out of interest - what was your last brush that didn't last as expected?

Sounds like Alex's new ultimate brush is ideal for you...
Not sure when it's out though.

ultimate brush is supposed to be out towards end of jan according to Alex, cant wait to try it as i always wanted a brush between the superlite and extreme then when the supreme came out thats all ive used now, soft flocked is a dream to use for me with the way it splays out!
i think most gadiners have the 4 holes in them as all my brushes i put both fans and jets in them to change as and when i fancy or need to change them!

this is the brush Alex.  The first few bristles on the right hand side of the brush just keeled over and died after a few months.
Can't remember when I bought it but it was this year.
I've used no chemicals on it either,  just been used for Windows.

Thanks Paul - that's a Supreme medium and it's 7 months old, expected life 4-8 months so pretty much spot on.

The Supreme range is our easy splay range. This means they need less effort on the glass and are often faster to work with.  However, this does mean that when the bristles splay out more they can receive more abrasion from window frames and reveals than a standard Super-Lite brush.  The photo shows the effect of bristle abrasion on the right hand side. This is a typical wear pattern for a right-handed operator, as the right hand side of the brush usually impacts more - for left-handed operators the left hand usually wears first.

Going forward if longevity is more important than easy splay bristles I would recommend the standard Super-Lite medium mixed.

i do like gardiners brushes  I currently  use medium mixes  bristles  but I do wish the brushes where packed out with more bristles  they always seem so sparse.

Rotate your brush head every few weeks,  So unscrew socket from brush head and fully rotate so the worn bristles that were on the right are now on  the left.

Also fit a scraper so when trying to remove bird muck you ain't srubing like mad with the right hand side of your brush if right handed.

I've often wondered if a brush could be made with stiffer bristles at each end to cope with the frames. I dare say the brush might not splay on the glass so well though?

Trippy, what's that funny hose loop thing at the top of your pole?

Buying more than 1 at a time works better I rotate them every couple of days and use certain ones for different Windows a brush working on pvc everyday will last a lot longer than if it's cleaning Georgians or leads.

If I had the power to design a brush, this is the first thing I would try. Maybe a few clumps of bristles around each corner would help in both whipping spiders nests out the corners and possibly wear better, I would predict the brush just splay pretty much normally. Maybe it's been tried? There is the possibility that this could make the brush flick water though.

IVE ASKED BEFORE BUT IM GOING TO INVEST IN A NEW XLINE BRUSK WITH MY XMAS TIPS this year    ,put it back into my bussiness,   also new pole.

which xline brush is best for everyday use.     sill brushes look great for the pvc ledges  up  bedroom windows.    get a good wipe with all bristles.

is the flocked or mono verion best.       day to day use.
