Streaks on inside Windows...Help
« on: November 30, 2015, 09:20:03 pm »
I've got a job that I do insides every month.
Problem is the sun shines directly on the glass and shows any residue from the blade.
I've even tried a using the unger cleaning kit with pads but they even leave smears on the glass.
Is there any detergent out there that doesn't leave and streaks on glass from blading.
Or has anybody got any ideas...
Cheers

I had a tyre shop I used to do and found the same streakes what it turned out to be was the cleaning solution was drying on the glass before I had chance to blade it off.

What rubber you using?
I personally find hard leaves less marks on the glass then soft, especially on shop fronts.
Also make sure you change rubbers often. I change every week, even if only used a few times, just for piece of mind.
And make sure you cut the rubber neatly, any grooves will leave lines.
When it comes to solution's for water, I find biodegradable eco liquids mixed with pure the best.
Oh and a squirt of vision :D

GG3 and pure water in a spray bottle, fresh dry microfibres and a good squeegee blade(i use unger soft all year round)

ditch the fairy washing up liquid....you shouldnt have any problems with smears then.

Don't use GG3 or GG4 as its absolutely useless, I'm using HG window cleaner at the moment and finding it hard to
beat, put it this way if I can get a smear free window then it has to be good as my traditional skills wouldn't be the best.

You can buy it in B+Q or Homebase, I think Amazon also sell it.

From my experience one of the biggest problems with streaks and smears on the insides is customers who clean themselves using traditional type glass cleaners which contain Isopropyl Alcohol, ammonia, solvents, etc.
Using glass cleaner on a regular basis leads to a build up of greasy residues left behind on the surface, using trad alone usually will not remove these residues properly and of course wfp can't be used on insides, the best solution i have found to remove these greasy residues is to scrub the glass with a magic eraser pad dampened with just water which will deep clean the surface and loosen all the greasy residues, then finish with trad  just using warm water if possible without any additives or good quality microfiber cloths to achieve a smear free finish, just go into any pub or restaurant at night time and with the lights on it always shows up the greasy film thats left behind on the glass and mirror surfaces as they are usually cleaned on a regular basis with traditional type glass/mirror cleaners.
Just to share three types of traditional  cleaners which are classed as CFU products are  glass/mirror cleaner, furniture polish, and stainless steel polish. Tadgh

Come on guys surely i am not the only person on this section who knows that traditional type glass cleaners whether blue or green in color just end up leaving greasy smears behind on the glass.
And the best tool to remove these greasy residues is a damp magic eraser pad, which are even more effective than any trad type applicators or wfp type brush when it comes to deep cleaning glass, just to share like. Tadgh

I found GG4 ok but it doesn't foam like Fairy - what happens is people overdose their mixture trying to get it sudsy or mix it with something else. Use it like the manufacturers intended and it's good stuff.

HG was back on the shelves in my local B&Q the other day when I last looked.

Hi Mike, yes i would consider them to be one of the best advancements to the cleaning industry over the years, when it comes to deep cleaning all types of hard surfaces they are in a league of their own.
