cancel till summer AGAIN
« on: November 29, 2015, 04:09:36 pm »
Another guy asking me to not bother until summer. Texted him back saying I don't do that. Cancel or carry on. Another customer lost. Not messing about

Shame on you  :o

No probs, don't call me I will call you  ;D

I just let them know there will be a significant increase if they only want a summer clean, if they agree, fine. I am always behind in winter anyway so in summer a 20 pound job is 30 pounds. win win.

+1 as they can always go on the back burner and you do them if/when it suite you that's if you have time to fit them in.

As others have said, for me it will usually be a substantial price increase to re-start in Spring.  I don't increase the prices of my regulars often enough - I view it as a sort of loyalty bonus for not being a messer, although it's never spoken.  However, as soon as someone wants to change the terms of the verbal agreement, that gives me the leverage to do likewise.  I won't say, "no exceptions!" because I have done so very occasionally.  If I do, I always let them know that I have made an exception for them and that it may not always be possible in the future.

I have a custy who did that last year and just has again, tbh unlike others I dont really give a monkies, its a 5 min job for a tenner a month always cash under a pot never have to see her, cancelled by text with plenty of notice hasn't put me out or wasted my time in any way, theres always one ! but a job is a job and so is the money, if more were to do it I my take a harder line though.

Don't clean in winter. Don't clean when raining.  You cant make a living just in the summer

I've taken that stance too!
I told one guy that I had to replace him with an all year round customer because no-one lets me off my bills in winter.  I only said it because he was a PITA anyway.

I had a new custie say to me once can we leave it until the weather improves in about 5 months time,I said NO I'm not a hedgehog I clean all year round and that was the terms I stated from the start. I always tell new ones I clean all year round and if I get a sniff they are not up for it I won't start cleaning them. That's why a lot of people gain jobs in March of April it's not a coincidence your probably picking up jobs from another cleaner that doesn't want to know when they've tried calling them in the spring.

If you have plenty of work(which most claim to have ie swap one customer for another) why would you not accept a summer only clean if the price is vastly increased? most of us cant keep to schedule in winter so do longer days in summer, surely if a customer who is say 15 pounds a month accepts they have to pay 22 pounds for a summer clean only, you will earn better money during the better weather ???

I work differently to most on here, i.e. I work to a frequency that suits my customers, be it at 2, 4, 6, 8 or 12 weekly intervals. I also have others who phone me as and when they want a clean. It doesn't worry me in the slightest as long as I make enough money.

So if anyone wants to drop out for a few months, I just say 'no problem, give me a shout when you need me again'. I don't see the sense in turning away work if it's on offer and I can fit it in.

Good to see a work ethic similar to mine, i dont mind people who dictate to me, but i charge them for the privelage and they normally get cleaned when it suits me in a void. :)
