I don't have a problem reversing a van myself...It's quite simple really as you soon know when to stop when you hear and feel a bump.

Do you see many hgv's on the road with reversing cameras on the back of them?

I suppose all new cars and commercial vehicles will be fitted with them as well as sonar auto collision detection and breaking system in the near distant future as standard. Not forgetting built in dash cams too.

This chap who put a hidden dash cam in his vw camper van caught a thief red handed stealing his bumper then put the scumbags pic on facebook  http://www.dailymail.co.uk/video/news/video-1090713/Thief-caught-red-handed-stealing-bumper-VW-van.html

Good for him as I bet that scumbag wasn't expecting that  ;D

I might have a look around and see if I can get a multi cam/dash cam 12v dvr type setup.
That way could be used for extra van security too and monitor front, back and both side of the van at the same time.
The amount of rtc's/incidents recorded and uploaded to youtube etc using these things is mind blowing.

My truck is over  17ft long  and having a reversing camera is a must makes such a difference instead of getting out to check .

I can't believe I'm so sad I've just gone out in the high winds and rain to measure mine too.
Maybe I need one after all or at least a tape measure long enough Mike  ;D

Not to worry Mike. I use a Renault Master and to be honest it's still not really big enough.
