need some ideas for the inside of my van...
« on: November 19, 2015, 06:53:17 pm »
basically i have just bought a full fiberglass kit and fresh plywood to do the floor of my primastar van, this will mean i have to strip everything out the back.
while the vans empty i might aswell improve a few things to make everyday that little bit easier.
i currently have a loose hose reel that i lift in and out everyjob, is it easier fixed or not? if so what do you use to fix them down and make it look neat.
what do people hang their squeegy, blades and buckets on so they look neat but to rattle ?
i have seen a few people with some kind of metal shelving on their rear doors on the van for gloves and spray bottles, were do these come from?
what do people use to store their ladders? i hate the rattle noise everytime i hit the smallest bump.

and if anyone can think of useful ideas i might of missed out then please let me know. thanks

Never argue with an idiot, they will only bring you down to their level, and beat you with experience

Buy a hose reel that can be bolted straight to van floor. Also get to b&q, they sell all sorts of little hooks etc for storing poles, ladders, squeegees..

Same here, rubber floor is siliconed around the edges and then I painted the rest of the ply in waterproof wood paint.
My system is leak free so that's all that is needed, speedliner etc isn't really necessary.

Have a look on Ebay for a seller trading as Britalitez.
They sell van led lighting kits.
I bought a 12 volt 1mtr led strip light for the shed for around £30 and it is very good.

i have a big thick piece of plywood at the back of my tank with rubber car mats stapled to it.then 3 blocks of wood screwed into the plywood boxing in my reel and cable tied to the blocks.

i have 2 plastic storage boxes on top of my tank for fresh scrims/microfibres,spare goosenecks/odds and ends.then just at my side van door i have my oblong bucket with lid,a storage box(for dirty cloths/applicator sleeves)and an old unger green bucket that holds my BOAB,squeegees, detergent, spray bottles, cream cleaner, spare rubbers, pockets, scrapers etc

my spare brushes are bunched together and are hanging from my mesh bulkhead by a bungee strap again near side door for easy access.

on the other side of my tank i have my 5L pressure sprayer, fold away trolley, a 5l tub of virosol, toolbox and a warning cone.

2 soil pipes hanging from inside roof(i have a hi roof connect so plenty of room)for poles.

next to my reel i have my pumpbox and theres still room for my backpack(when i take it with me)

L10 heater just above reel and 13kg gas bottle behind it.

everything fits in nice and neat to maximize working time with minimal hassle.

in the front of the cab i have all my gloves, beanie hats, caps etc stored in the shelf above the windscreen.glovebox has spare scraper blades, first aid kit, fuses, paracetamol, sunglasses, suntan cream etc.

invoices, business cards, leaflets, pens etc all fit in the centre of dashboard.

ladders are on my roof rack padlocked with ladder clamps.

door compartment has my shoe covers in . ;D
price higher/work harder!

Thanks everyone for the ideas! I already have hooks etc to hold pole hose in and I have a custom made holder.

Already got shelving on either side

Just wanted a few new ideas and you have helped:)

As for the floor I'm fiberglassing it because I'm in the process of getting a pressure washer and FSC ordered for next year so I want everything cleaned and easy to wipe/brush down.

Nice little set up that mate, very similar to mine however I need more hooks etc to get my ladders stored away and bold down my hose reel.
So you use a hose guide aswell or not?

No hose reel guide, reel is bolted as close to the backdoors as possible so I just run the hose around the bumpers.
I try to keep everything simple and tidy, don't like clutter. Everything can be reached quickly and easily without stepping in the van.

I use the gel coat and hardener over my floor last year and dried really solid, it was just to get me threw the winter, it's all chipped etc now so going to do it properly.

It's easy I have a roofer who said he will help but it's a peace of p, just messy.
Basically you cut the Fiberglass matting to fit, paint on the clear resin onto wood, apply the matting then go over it and make it wet.
Let that dry then apply the Gel coat the top with a colour and your done, aslong as you get measurements  right it should be fine ;D

Going to do it on my time off over xmas, will just put a heater in over night get some head in the wood so it sets.

Lol I ordered 5ms worth of Fiberglass so I can hopefully do the wood up the sides to.

I'm going to refit and wire my system better and neater aswell as its so simple and cheap to do!

Just looks alot more professional when you pull up at jobs, everyone seems to be switching to wfp now so got to be ahead of the rest  ::)roll
