New van set up
« on: October 26, 2015, 01:08:07 pm »
Hi guys,

I'm hoping to get our new van kited out in the next week or so with a 2 man set up, with 2 pumps.

The last couple of vans we've used, we just had 1 pump to 2 hose reels -  sometime 1 brush would deliver more water than the other which I'm sure was down to different lengths etc. We've never used a controller before, but I do find that when we only have 1 on the go, that the water is too powerful.

Anyway, I'm not sure if I need 1 controller or 1 per pump - also, excuse my ignorance, but would a simple valve between the pump and the reel not do the same job.

I'm thinking of just having an independent leisure battery in the back of the van, rather than wiring it up to the van own battery - do you think I need 1 battery per pump or will 1 battery serve the 2 pumps?

Thanks

Rob

Standard two man setups are fitted with a pump and pump controller for each operator.
Some also prefer a separate leisure battery for each one too but that's down to personal choice as it has a certain amount of redundancy built in if one battery should fail.

I would not recommend using the van battery for power at all but then again that’s up to the individuals what they do.

as long as its 110 leisure battery,  make sure you charge it up  more regularally  than as a 1 man setup.,
it will be using double the power.     2 would be better, once you have bought it its money well spent.  i charge mine up every sunday to full .   im glad i got the 110amp   leisure battery
