It seems to me that more and more people are texting when requesting a quote. Im getting sick of it. It only causes problems. I need to put something on the 'contact' part of the website asking that this doesnt happen.

Anyone got anything similiar on theirs or any ideas what could be used as wording?

TIA Matt

If someone texts me for a quote, I just phone them back.  If they don't answer, I leave a message saying who I am and that I'll try again later.

I then phone them later.

Yep it's as simple as that...However it's better to ask them to phone you back say in the eveining or whatever if they are hard to get hold of instead of wasting your time  ;D

Its probably me, I find texting to ask for a quote as rude or possibly stupid to the nth degree.

This is typical

I had that once, ' how much to clean 5 windows?
Got his address, there are 8 windows- ' I didn't think you counted the small windows?
Do you not want them cleaning?
Yeah, I thought you'd include them with the other 5?!

Me - wtf ::)roll

I've had them like that.  To be honest I don't even reply.  It's probably wrong of me, but I assume they're price orientated, stupid and poor.

I'm not a snob - I'm a window cleaner, so snobbery is out of the question - but I don't want price-orientated, stupid and poor customers.

I've found it's quite easy to ignore text messages or phone messages but it's a  bit harder to ignore someone speaking on the end of the phone or face to face...unless it's the wife  ;D

A decent contact form that takes them a while to fill out is a good way to weedle out time wasters.
Not only that you get the relevant information you need to decide if you’re going to ignore them or not .
I do like a lot of required fields on the form too as will p them off   8)

Email can be annoying too.

"I would like a quote for a roof clean and window clean for a five bed house.

If you would like to visit I am free every week day evening from 4:30pm onwards.

Look forward to hearing from you

Melanie "

Sounds like you are onto a promise with Melanie  and I suspect it wouldn't be the first to want to pay in kind.
It's when they start adding kisses then the missus might get a bit upset  ;D

So, I get round there yesterday and there's a conservatory on it and velux windows in the roof that he wanted doing as well.

I think you may be looking a gift horse in the mouth here Matt ... ive noticed an increase in text quotes  and have put it down to people being so busy with their lives they just want to sort a window cleaner out ASAP then forget about it.

time poor cash rich springs to mind ... so I quote high with the view of take it or leave it.

I filter the nobs out by anyone who uses text lingo ....  M8 ... wndow .... can u plz ... etc etc

If they pass my nobs test then most times get them to text me some photos of house and take it from there  :)

that's why I prefer to quote face to face as you can generally tell if they are what i call just fishing on the phone
