Thick bituminous glue on old brick floor.
« on: September 23, 2015, 11:27:06 pm »
Like, 2 to 3 mm thick in places, other places just a paint-layer thickness.

I was thinking of a long dwell of appropriate solvent, maybe monster brush, slow rotary weighted up to the max., lots of rinsing, preferably highish pressure, probably just warm, rather than hot, because of flow rates.

Any other ideas / things to watch out for?

When you say bricks!   Do you mean house bricks?  Any photos?  Can you post some or even better e mail me them?

Budget for cleaning kit as it makes such a mess of everything when you get it loosened.

No pics yet - the room is currently full of furniture on a carpet, so we've only lifted edges - going back for a test patch after room cleared. Size 14' x 15'.

But yes, house bricks - mainly Cambridge whites by the look of them.

Take your point, jamie, we will.

I'm wondering about glugging solvent on, then covering with plastic - visqueen, or something  - for a couple of days - but what about the solvent penetrating the bricks?

Thanks for phone advice, Kevin. I'll let you know if we actually book a test patch.
