oil on paving slabs and indoor concrete
« on: September 14, 2015, 05:40:24 pm »
I have been asked to clean up some oil spills/stains on paving and sandstone slabs and some indoor areas. I have decided to use ot8 followed up with Resiblock. However I can't jet wash afterwards because of the location. Would mopping with clean water do or would an alternative method such a wet extraction be better.

In pic 2, what's the white stuff? It looks thick, the way it's built up to cover the edges of the slabs.

Choice of chemical will depend on the nature of this stuff, but for oils in general, and general heavy soiling, Xtreme Clean is excellent, and used neat it will shift most sealers, too. I don't know "ot8"

Apart from the chemistry this may be a job for a Monster Brush.

I'd be grateful for hot water & high pressure from a truck mount, but there are plenty on here will say it's not necessary - I expect.

Basically they spilt some diesel when emptying a tank and only want the oily spots removed. Some of the stone is indoors and they won't allow a jetwasher of any sort. They are not worried about the other stains. This is an historic property so the stonework is very worn and stained anyway.  I know it's going to be hard scrubbing , probably with a rotary, but it's the rinsing I was not sure of. How effective just a wash and extract will be.
