Hi all, how do you price up gutters? and what's the average price?

I price according to the house/property an average terraced front/back is £65 to vac

Washing slightly more, basically over the years I know how long it takes to wash a run of sfg and I know we want to earn £x per hour, if a job takes 1hr I charge 1.5 the hourly rate as a one off clean has time to and from it.

Others just charge per meter, which is ok, but I like to take into account access, those with wide soffits, vented soffits, gable ends ( you can charge big for these because people are put off by the height, but are real easy to clean wfp )

As with anything get the best you can afford, I've had an omnivac 4200 watt setup for almost six years, it's been fantastic and never failed to get everything out the gutters ( but I have made loads of extra ends for it.)

The nilfisk/sky vacs are supposed to be very good and come with a blow option - later this year I shall probably get one of these, I would defo have carbon poles, it gave our omnivac a new lease of life in ease of use esp. 3 floors up.

Buy a good Honda Genny - don't rely on customers to provide your electricity !

Regarding price there is no such thing as an average price as each job is different so you need to charge accordingly.  Basically I charge as high as I want for each job now as to be honest I’m not that bothered if I win the work or not anymore.

I find it helps to wiz around with a camera on a pole and inspect the guttering & downspouts whilst on quotes. That way I get a good idea what I’m letting myself in for.  Not only that it’s great for identifying issues beforehand and even show the customer too so is a very powerful passive sales tool.

I make it clear on quotes gutter clearing is one service and cleaning the outside of gutters, fascias and soffits etc is a completely different service so should be priced separately

I envy you guys that can get decent money for doing this type of work, you wouldn't believe the amount of fancy well to do
properties with filthy fascia's soffits and gutters that haven't been cleaned from new that are in my area. the owners are
too miserable to pay anybody to clean them.
I have quoted quite a few of them and have yet to get any, thinking of carrying a defibrillator as its only a matter of time before one of them has a heart attack judging by the reactions I get.

They are a big lump, so we book all the cleans on one day so we're not shifting the Genny in and out of the van

I completely agree with you Smurf,  I've often been asked when quoting for gutter clearing does that include washing the exterior
of gutters as well, so now when asked i explain they are completely different services and priced separately, then its up to them if
they want to proceed with it or not.

I stopped doing these but used to charge £3 per liner metre (gap between gutter clips approx 1 metre) for emptying or £3 for cleaning or £5 if both jobs done same visit.

Typical 3 bed semi with 2 runs of 8 metres = £40 took about 40 mins or less with gutter pro tool.

If not a regular customer then double the above price

Once you get one then they'll all want it done they'll want to keep up with the Jones's next door etc!

Very true as I end up quite often doing a few in a street once they see what I'm up to. That's walkups no leafletting  or knocking door as to be honest I can't be arsed with all that marlarky now..
