reasons for NOT taking new enquiries on!
« on: September 03, 2015, 07:48:39 pm »
had a call yesterday

3 storey townhouse.i quoted him £20 8 weekly(i clean a similar property round the corner).he was happy with that.he then phoned me back 2 mins later and said "oh by the way  no access to the  back you ll have to climb over the neighbours 6 ft  wall!"i politely declined the job. ;D

this morning i had a walk up so i called round as it was just around the corner where i was working.large 5 bedder with a few 3 storey windows.awkward access round the side.quoted him £40 8 weekly.he was thinking 8 weekly was too frequent and could i do 12 weekly.sorry no i said as i wanted to fit his in with the 2 £40 properties around the corner which are both on an 8 weekly frequency.

next minute he flys off the handle and says "why did you bother knocking on my door then!" GOODBYE!i said.his windows were absolutely filthy!i think he was only after a one off clean anyway.arrogant cockney geezer! ::)roll ;D

i seem to be turning more work away than i take on at the moment!i just cant be bothered with one offs or P.I.T.A jobs.too busy cleaning my regulars. ;D

i d like to hear your reasons for not taking on certain new enquiries please chaps!
price higher/work harder!

Same as you really mate. One offs are too much hassle when you've got enough to do.
No still don't understand, I must be thick

Too full, plus I like to leave a little space for good long term customers encase they want me to take on a family member.
Last week I had one of my longest and best customers ask me to start cleaning her daughters as she had just bought a new house, would have hated not to have been able to do it.

i still wont take on a long standing customers family member if its well out of the way with bad access though.

i do constantly take a few new jobs on every month because i do lose the odd job here and there for whatever reason(lost job, wanting longer frequencies, moving house, died etc)

Yes agree I don't go out of my way, they have to be within my working area, good customers wouldn't expect it.

I must admit I very rarely get a property with access problems, the one I remember most was one that was ok for a few years
then they put a garage at one side blocking that access and decided to put a dog pen at the other and expected me to go through
it. ::)roll

Sorry I'm too busy to fit you in but can put you on the waiting list if you like. Then if/when  a slot becomes available I can give you a call seems to work for me...That's a polite way to say fook off ;D ;D  ;D

I quoted a job a little while ago.  I couldn't get around the back due to padlocked gate but could see enough to quote.  As the person was out I left the quotation through the letter box adding that I would need a padlock key or the combi number of it (it wasn't clear which lock was in use).
Got a text accepting the quote and detailing which (two) days she was in when I could clean.
Declined on that basis but she's thinking about letting me have the combi number.
People don't do it intentionally as most aren't aware of the difficulties that can be involved in scheduling work.

Access can be a major issue in this game for sure.

I'm too old and wise to be jumping over locked  gates, walls, fences, over garage roofs or having to go through ppls homes or down overgrown back alleys  just to gain access to clean windows..

We get a lot of urban foxes roaming the estates in our area. Pulling your hose through their waste is dreadful, especially if you get it on your hands or clothes. Stinks the car out!

Can you explain the aroma, is it like normal dog faces,  or more like cat poo

Then if you slip on your ladders, it can end up on yer face  :o
