I was attacked by a wasp today, it has left my eye so swollen that I can't see out of it, it's the first sting of the year, I usually get one or two a year, never this bad

I'd get that looked at by a doctor. You can get nasty reactions around the eye, especially if the wasp has left anything in the eye.

I was stung by a small bee that dropped down my shirt collar some years ago. Fortunately I was able to work but the swelling gave me a stiff neck for few days.

Hope you recover quickly

Obviously you have done the right thing by not working with your eye like that.
Hope you recover soon bud

At least you have less chance of dying today falling off the ladders . . . Maybe it was a guardian angel wasp  ;D

went to doctors today and he gave me a short dose of steroids to get the swelling down.

I usually get stung once or twice a year, never this bad, last year I managed to disturb a nest that was in some shrubs and got stung at least 6 times, it was very painful, but managed to carry on working .
