Water meter charges
« on: July 22, 2015, 06:38:41 pm »
Does anyone know how much it will cost for water if I change to a meter?
The reason being that I am about to move house and the new one has a water meter fitted. I use approx 300 litres per week. Thanks.

My water bill has gone up 10 quid a month in the last years since they fitted a meter.

Not sure if I was being told porkies - but 1000 litres is about a £1.00ish for my area. One cubic metre is 1000 litres SO I AM TOLD.

Not on a meter thanks goodness as I have a 7000 gallon fish pond + a TM to fill up each day + a 400 litre jet wash tank hahahaha

You can reckon on £2 per 1,000 litres as a rough average.  It varies by area but that should give a margin for error.  If using an RO, the water used for cleaning should be at least doubled to allow for waste (unless you have a domestic use for it in which case it can reduce the domestic part of your bill).

You can have a separate meter fitted and they charge separately for that and obviously you can claim that amount back. A friend of mine paid about £150 for it installing. Water per units about £1.70 for 1000 litres. You won't have to pay drainage either so will cost you very little.

You would with an ro unless you can prove the waste doesn't go down the drain.
Easy to fit your own meter from supply to RO to monitor usage.

£3.42 for 1000ltrs  with drainage down here.
Check with water supplier for correct price per 1000ltrs.
I put a meter on the outside tape so I know exactly how much goes through the system including ro waist.

from latest bill £1.68 for sewerage and £1.06 for water per cubic so £2.74 per 1000 litres Dee Valley Water.

Im on a 4040 so takes prob 3000 litres to fill my IBC £8 to £9 per fill

could prob save a few quid on the sewerage if I told them what I used it ??

don't forget if you fit a separate meter to your system then all of that can go against tax bill so roughly £5 to £6 per fill for me so not complaining.
