New van needed. Opinions on Citroen Despatch?
« on: July 22, 2015, 05:50:51 pm »
I think the time has come to change my van.  The old one has quite a few miles on it now and let's me down at least once a year.  It's OK if someone doesn't mind an unexpected break from time to time, or even as a spare in a fleet maybe, but I could do with something newer - possibly brand new even if I can get the loan.  I haven't settled on what to go for yet but I'm thinking along the lines of a Despatch with 500 litre delivery tank (my water is pure before it enters the van).
At least repaying a monthly loan is predictable and other maintenance/repairs ought to be quite low over the first 4/5 years (for me that's about 45,000 - 50,000 miles).
Any thoughts?

Personally love the dispatch/scudo/expert

I have an older one and its a great size not too big you cant park it not too small you cant get owt in.

The hdi engines are great with good mpg

Mines the older 1.9d showing 293k and never broke down,
Ive driven the newer ones and really like them, when this van dies i will get a newer one for sure.

ive had a 2/0 litre dispatch, 09 new shape,   had it 9 months, not any probs yet.     good size
only thing i dont like is the right hand side hand brake.    once caught my trouser leg on it and brake came off and van started to move forward.       luckilly i got in to stop it.
dont rush   lots out there.       get 2.0 litre for better engine

I too have just recently brought a 2 litre Dispatch 11 plate. I've got 500 litre upright tank in there which gives me plenty of room for everything else. There was a piece in the bulkhead on mine that popped out so as I could fit two poles in which saved me a lot of time. Also the drive is good its like driving a car especially with the 6 gears!

ever looked at the connect T230 s leapstallbuildings?i love mine.ive got a 500l upright in a frame, mesh bulkhead and plenty of room for backpack, reel, trad gear etc.the high roof allows you to fit a couple of tubes inside for your poles.easy to park as well.perfect for a sole trader.

pulls well even with a full tank.mine has a 900kg payload(older model)but the newer versions have a 1000kg payload depending on model.

i do about 3000 miles in it max per year as its just used for work.
price higher/work harder!

the floor in my mates Transit, plenty of work for the welders.
Reminded me of a 1970's Fiat.
