I've been browsing on the Pure Freedom site and noticed the Pheonix Pro pole; a bit cheaper than the SLX35 which I had planned to buy ......... and if I'm honest probably still will as I like their poles ........... but I was just wondering if anyone had had any experience with the Pheonix poles, good or bad???

i had a pheonix full carbon  22 it dident even last a year clamps have no bite an hardly any adjustment  nce clamps to use tho very quick but i wouldent get one again

King, think your pole was a first edition and a lot has changed since. Older SLX poles have also changed since they were first released!

Windy I spoke to said the clamps are crap and they don't last a year. Told him my SLX was 2 1/2 years old with upgraded clamps. Although I do look after it.
It wouldn't be the first time I've heard the "with the work we do" line.

Just to point out a few things:

The Phoenix range is one of Europe/U.K's biggest selling water fed poles with 1000's sold every year.

The range is constantly developing and is now on Mk2 range which is more popular than ever with further developments coming.

Phoenix clamps are universally recognised as the easiest, most ergonomic and fastest clamps to use bar none.

Comparing a Phoenix pole now to one that is over a year old is like comparing an SLX now to an earlier version (remember posts on sections spinning, etc? Remember the metal clamps!!?). Things move on and improve.

Point is anyone who owns a Phoenix pole over a year old has not got the latest version and wouldn't really be in position to comment. Same as any other pole range that strives to improve, things get better.

Based on your argument above Stephen, the old Slx poles were better. You've improved your poles, they've improved theirs. I know which I'd still choose.

Oops! It was an ionics pole he had. Just remembered it has similar old style Gardiner clamps. Anyway he said a pole would never last them that long with all the different work we do.
He did also mention that they work three days a week and gave me his number as his boy is always looking for the extra hours.
He also said that he has hundreds of gutters and all sorts that he's been putting off for ages as there that busy.
Oh and one last thing a customer I dumped had asked me for a quote for fsg on the same day I spoke to the busy guy and who turned up the next day to clean it.... Mr I'm so busy!

I understand what you are saying about past experience, but to blanket something based on an older version and assume it's the same ? I'm not to sure about

just my input ................ I have used Gardiner poles for over 5 years so you may think im biased .... however I attended an evening event at Richies lock up in ellesmere port up a few years back and had a go at a phoenix pole and found it to be nice to handle and extend ... I assumed it was one of the carbon ones cos it was black but was amazed to find it was the budget glass fibre pole !!

For a staff pole it would be perfect obviously no experience of longevity or day to day use but it felt right in the hand so who knows ??

Was going to buy one but couldn't get a straight answer on prices at the time so went with Gardiners instead.
