how do you organise your round
« on: July 20, 2015, 07:06:51 pm »
do you stick to set days? example, houses are always done monday every 4 weeks? or do you tell your customers you dont stick to days but within 4/6/8 weeks?

or start at the top of a long list and work your way down?

I just have mine on a rota which is supposed to be six weekly, but they're always a few days behind.
I want my work life to be as informal and stress free as possible.
Spent most of my working life working to timetables and deadlines it was something I wanted to get away from when I
started window cleaning.

1st-7th
8th-14th
15th-21st
22nd-end of the month

Customers and areas are split into these 4 time slots.
Bang it all out all quick as possible. Never behind schedule and always room for add on jobs apart from the first week, it's chocca block.

I second that! I'm always at least a week late with either 4, 6 or 8 weeklies... oh and I also tend to "favour" higher priced stuff !

Ie, if I've got a load of £10-12 jobs overdue and £20-25 jobs just due, the 20 quidders get done first.

If you're running behind all the time, put your prices up 😉

A-Z i work my round then start again.its one big mega round.most are virtually the same schedule apart from juggling a few different frequencies(6/8/12 weeklies and the odd other longer frequency job)

most are 4 weekly though.
price higher/work harder!

Some of my work gets done bang on time, particularly commercial. 90% of my work is 6 weekly. Anything else like 8 weekly completely stuffs my round when it falls due.

I don't do that but if I'm strapped for cash I sometimes look down the list to see who is normally in and pays cash :)

4 weekly, but just go thru them then start again. if 4 becomes 5 due to delays so be it, just do them 4 weeks after they were last done, i dont try to "catch up"

That's when you have the week off
The week beginning 31 August  is the next scheduled  week off and back to it for 20 days on 7Th Sept
I used to work 4/8 weekly but found it difficult to plan time off, this way shows me when to book holidays

until recently monthly ... normally on same date so if cleaned on the 5th June then cleaned 5th July unless it falls on a weekend then will try to get them done on the Friday or it falls into the Monday

but nowadays Im pulling stuff forward by a day or 2 every month so I can get thru the lot in first 3 weeks of month if possible gives me a nice rest at end of month.

id hate to run my business like that! ;D

i like routine and all jobs are cleaned in the order they are due and areas im working to maximise working time.

i remember a few years ago "slumpbuster" was driving here, there and everywhere picking higher priced jobs to clean and leaving some others out but finding that a few weeks later he was driving down the same roads to clean the ones he left out.madness if you ask me.
price higher/work harder!

We work on a monthly set up. If a days work is due in week 3 for example, it will be done any day that week.

I never tell customers a certain day we will be coming or coming back.

Each to their own Daz,  I happen to hate routine.

Slumpy may have worked that way but 90% of my work is all about 10 minutes or less from my front door so I can chose whether I have a fantastic day or just a brilliant one  ;D ;D ;D
