Just at the end of my first year as a window cleaner, it's been a good year. Celebrating by taking the family to Turkey tomorrow for two weeks, did next weeks work last week on top of normal week and will do the same when I return, but for now......time to chill  8)

I take 3 holidays abroad each year, 2 weeks in summer ( I am in Orlando at the moment ) 1 week in October and 1 week in April. If any of my customers mention that I have a lot of holidays, I just tell them that my wife's good to me. I used to let employees work when I was away on hols but I  was never able to relax and would usually have a few complaints to deal with when I got back.  Now I am down to 1 employee so I just shut down when I'm away.

So after all the bragging , I start were i left but cram as much work as possible into the weeks after my return working 6 day weeks until i am totally caught up or the weather dictates otherwise and puts pay to well laid plans .

We never have more than a week away simply because I can't get back on track with the volume of work I have.

i dont try and cram in work before or after a holiday.i simply shift my entire schedule to when i get back and carry on as normal.

i know what you mean dave.i normally just go away for a week at a time so i dont get too far behind.

although im planning on having an entire month away in the future probably jan or feb(gary999 style)to have a break from the winter working when i reach 50.

My life's a permanent holiday.

If it isnt and you're window cleaning there's something amiss.

Oh, yeah, and of course there's the regular trips abroad to Egypts red sea. Currently looking at booking a fortnight in the Indian Ocean, cant decide where exactly though. Ho hum, its a hard life.

I was in Egypt a couple of months back Daz and all I did was lie on a sunbed, I took one walk down the pontoon to look at the fishys and that was it, I walked back to the sunbed and didnt move for two more weeks. ;)

I may one day, the qualifying was more fun than the diving if the truth were told. Its a lot of bother for 90 minutes underwater. If we go to the Indian ocean I will definately.

I only used to have long weekends away, apart from the odd week when it was almost a 5 week month.

To climb mount fuji you must first find a path

I wouldn't brag about wanting to bed strange gendered teenage boys in a far-eastern country either.

Yes that's best kept quiet  ;D

I also tend to do a week when I can, with  2 weeks and the last 4 days ya stressed out thinking about work.

I don't do long flights that well, although I have been Mexico and India both over 10 hour flights........I try to keep flight times to a minimum....... Even Cyprus is 5 hour which was a ball ache

And ya won't get me going anywhere near Egypt or Turkey or any other Muslim countries with the way the world is at the minute.

Best to play it save and not take any chances

We're off to Egypt in September.

I love the place. I have seriously lost count of how many times Ive been there. Its probably around the 25 mark. I first went there in '87 with a rucksack, 6 bottles of vodka, some dirty underwear and £100.00.

You've more chance of accidentally ending up in A + E with a hoover pipe wrapped round you winky than of being killed over there.

I did always fancy Egypt looks propa decent, and I like the Muslims an Arab people

But this isis crap is going to happen more an more and I wouldn't want to be anywhere near anything to do with it.
I know it will happen here an it will happen anywhere but I wouldn't be able to relax, it would be on my mind and how do I protect my wife and 2 girls with hand weapons to say against some crazy freak with an ak47..........
My luck I would be seen next on Al Jazeera tv in an orange suit
