RO????
« on: July 03, 2015, 11:11:29 pm »
Hi all, right , when I started window cleaning, I bought this RO system, it has 5 filters, the guy I bought it off didn't have a clue what it was, anyways its leaking all over the place when I switch it on, which is doing my head in, but it's producing a tds of 000. My question is, is this what you guys use in your garage? or is there an easier way???????

Looks like the Pure Freedom 200gpd one. I've got the 300gpd one, though it's currently stripped down. Got a different one at the moment. Mine was fine with all the filter canisters hand tightened as long as the mains pressure going in was only about 40psi.  when I added a booster pump it leaked like sieve. I had to tighten all the canisters with the special spanners it came with.

That's the problem iv got! as soon as the booster pump is switched on, the water just seems to overflow on the clear canisters (I should have said 6 filters, not 5. There's 1 attached kind of separately at the end) iv tried tightening them with the plastic tools and doesn't make a difference, still leaks....  ???

Then turn the Bloody flow down  ;D ;D  , If you live in a soft water area this should produce 300ltrs a day while your at work this time of year flow rate will drop a fair bit in the colder months .

Depending on your water needs/usage you may need to upgrade later on to 350gpd RO  i got mine from www.daqua.co.uk Doug is a good guy i phoned him up told my set up and usage and he advised me on what would be best .

Take the ends off the 'cannisters'  that leak and check to see if there's a rubber seal/washer type thing at the bottom of the thread...

Mine doesn't leak and i tighten it by hand, only time it did was when  I forgot to out the seals back on!

Are you priducing into an ibc tank/storage tank?
If so, change the membranes (the ones that sit on top) to 150gpd membranes. Add a third, and then you'll have a 450gpd
Dont see the point for having any less than 450gpd, for the amount membranes cost it'll save you having to leave your R.O on allllllllllll the time...

Ok, iv just turned the tap on, no booster pump and it starts leaking straight away, iv tightened it by hand and then with the plastic tool, maybe replace the rubber seals?

Don't waste your time with that system you have, instead if you have the money nip onto this website and buy either the 4021 or 4040. You won't regret it, especially as you get busier.

What you really need is someone in your area that uses this type of RO.  The brands name is not important  as long as it looks the same. You really only have three types. There must be someone on here that can help. In which area do you live.
P S if your explain were the leaks are  it would help.

Took this off the filter which was stopping the lid from closing tight, leak has stopped now but for some reason the tds is now 006 , will this be ok?

That seal you're holding prevents the filtered water in that section of your unit from becoming contaminated with the dirty water entering it. That is probably why your tds has gone up. That whole unit looks to be quite old. I would look to replace the whole thing with a new one if your budget will allow.

Firstly you need to put that seal back on the pre filter, next where are you buying the filters ? I had a batch a few years
back that when I put them in the vessels they wouldn't tighten enough to stop leaking.
They where slightly too long and to be honest I think they might have been rejects, try buying some replacements from a
different supplier.
