Has anyone tried getting domestic jobs by knocking on doors as opposed to leaflet dropping and did you find it worked?

Not many people like door knocking but it gets works for window cleaners.


Why not have a look at the window cleaning section.

There is a company on there called doorknockers maybee they could help.

Knock on door.

"Hi, we are promoting XXXXXXXX in your area, may I give you a leaflet"

Works far better than just shoving leaflet through letterbox, but it's a bit nerve-wracking the first few times............

I think I'll test it on one or two roads.  They can only tell me to get lost. 

Gonna try "we're a new company and are offering an introductory discount".  Do you think that would put people off?

I'll let you know how I get on, but don't hold your breath coz I won't be doing it til about July/August.

I've lived where I am now for 4.5 years and the JW's dont seem to ever knock round here, perhaps they dont think anyone in my street is worth saving.    lol

My son has the best ever way I've seen of door knocking,
He takes about 10 leaflets on top of a presentation folder up to the door of the property in mind, knocks on door. says something like "good morning, sorry to bother you , but we've paid a distribution company to deliver these, and I'm just checking they were  deliverd"? (as they didn't the victim says no as she's looking at the flyer in his hand) Then he says " this is what we specialise in, would you be interested in a quote" He used to get me plenty work but as he has is own very lucrative business now and I haven't got the bottle I just leaflet. But this is not perfect by any means, but I tend to get referals from jobs Iv'e done

Hi Ali,

I am a window cleaner and always door knock. Leaflets are used if the person is out when I knock.

On average I expect to get 1 in 10-15 from knocking and 1 in 200/250 leaflets.

Think from your own perspective, how many free leaflets do you actually read or just throw away at a glance and out of the ones you keep intending to ring, how many do you call?

I havent done door knocking but will definitely try next week. I always pay distribution company to deliver 5000 leaflets and im lucky if i have 3 calls altogether.  that's a lot of money to pay for the leaflets and the distributor.

If your paying a distribution comapny to deliver leaflets then it must mean you have spare time your wanting to fill.

Why dont you use this time by knocking on your customers neighbours, explain what you have done and ask if they would like a quote.

Ask your customers if they no anyone who could use your services and offer them a 10% introductory discount off their next clean.

That says it all 5000 : 3 ratio, if I knocked on 5000 houses I would generate at least 40 appointments face to face with literature to hand out.

door knocking works a treat I do the same as that fellas son and say im cheacking up on the distrubution company, the customer actually looks disapointed when they think that they have not received something that every one else did and therfore pays a lot more interest (no one likes to be left out even if it is just a leaflet)
get knocking and dont be put off by the usuall idiots, weirdos, or miserable gits

it is worth phoning the local police station first to tell them where you plan to go knocking.......they always get calls from worried grannies when some one comes knocking unannouced.l

That's why you shouldn't go door knocking as it scares old people and if there unstable with there walking it takes a real effort to answer the door.

I have done a huge amount of door knocking and would advise any one to miss houses which you can see old people live, look for the usual signs hand railings, disabled sticker in the car, ramps instead of steps. If i do get an old person who wants some work done then i try to speak to them with a relative or neighbor (saves any accusations of rail roading old people)
