bought one and charged it, blew up, got it to gardiners and they fixed it, got it back and charged it, blew up again, money back please

Hi Aztec

Just got back from holiday now and looked up your order details.

The reason that your backpack blew up when you plugged it in to charge the first time was that you had attempted to plug it in directly to a 240v supply with a computer lead (which you returned with the blown backpack) instead of the 12v charger supplied.

Putting 240v through a 12v wiring system is never healthy for a device  :)  On inspection this had blown the fuse and the flow controller on the unit. I replaced these items and tested it and all seemed fine (the only previous client to have tried putting 240v directly through the unit blew everything up inside, battery, pump and wiring), but it may be that it had also damaged something else.

I will be taking another look at it now we have collected it from you again - I am hoping that it is not something else that was originally affected by the 240v input.

The office will let you know the outcome of my investigation tomorrow.

Hi Aztec

I think that this is where the problem lies - the lead you originally sent back with the blown backpack was not the charger that is supplied with the backpack. I think that between January when you bought it and May when you first charged it, somehow you must have switched the charger supplied for a computer lead. We did inform you on the previous return that the lead you had used was a 240v lead and should not be used again with the backpack as it was this that had blown up the unit.

I will email you privately with the finding of this mornings warranty inspection of the backpack.
