hi folks done a job friday using prochem crystal green it done a great job :)
does anyone know if its ok to use on a wollen carpet cheers :) :)

If your after a quick reply because you are just about to go out on a job then NO don't use CG on wool, its far too harsh ( I think the ph is 10 ) and should only really be used on very bad carpets. Saying tyhat I do know a couple of c/c ers that use it as first choice, but personally I only use it as a last resort.
if you're not too sure use a wool ms, Ultimate Master or Formula 90.

I would not use crystal green on wool, the ph is far to high, its main use i belive is to break "black top" i also think formula 90 is to high ph for wool, use M/S you cant go wrong.

If you`re using prochem try fibresafe gold powder using fibresafe gold pre spray ( both woolsafe approved )

cheers  would the crystal green shrink the wool carpet ?           i have got some ashbys supreme powder pc4309 i was also told i could use this on all carpets it has a ph of 11.5 so would this have been bad advice please help  ??? ??? ???

Nooooooo it's great advice. Works well on your hair aswell ;D.
'Woolsafe' is anything non ionic or anionic with a ph value of between 5.5 and 8.5.
Tell Derek to stick to selling top hardware.

Why would Crystal green or indeed any other ph detergent shrink a carpet? These are two completely unrelated topics. Get on an NCCA or IICRC training course quickly, it will cost about the same as an insurance claim excess.

I used crystal green on my own wool carpet years ago ( before I got training), and It took the dye out and left it as rough as hell....smells nice though

fibre and fabric rinse..acidic rinse to nuetralise any pre-spray, and conditions the carpet.

Hi Bennymon,

Crystal green is a good powerful detergent rinse but not on wool as already stated. If you use prochem products I'd recommend using prespray gold (as the prespray) then fibre and fabric rinse in your machine. I've been using woolsafe microsplitters lately and they've performed very well!

When I bought my first prochem machine from my local supplier the salesman gave me basic advice and sold me some prochem trafficlean and crystal green and said they could be used on 9 out of 10 carpets which is probably true. Its the 1 out of the 10 that could cause expensive problems.

As advised get yourself on a training course, the prochem 2 day is a great introduction and teaches you the basics needed to identify carpet construction and the chemicals required for different carpet types.

Better to be safe than sorry my friend.

I've got some, just haven't tried them yet, only ever use solutions, but as craftex were doing a deal on them i thought why not.
I was hoping for some practical comments on craftex, but maybe noone has used them????????

Craftex low ph fibre care is fine on most things including wool carpets and cotton sofas, just disolve it well before mixing, they also do a ph 7 traffic pre spray. The prochem fibre safe gold is woolsafe approved and neutralises itself, have a crack at both and see which you prefer  :)
