« on: May 08, 2015, 05:23:13 pm »
Had a call from Severn Trent water today stating that we will be put on a commercial water meter. They are getting someone to phone back on Monday. Looks like we have no option. Currently on rates and going to double or triple the current bill. Anyone els had this?

Wondering where they have there info from also  ???

I'd look closer to home, sounds like you have a neighbour with a grudge and time on their hands  :-\

A few weeks back we had someone checking for leaks and the 4040 filters were on but the chap noticed the water was flowing at the stop cock. My dad was around then and he spoke to the chap and he said he would forget he saw anything. So good chance it's him. Or very easily a neighbour that doesn't like the vans around.

Anyway can't change that but the question I'm really wanting answered is do they have to force me on a meter? Anyway around it?

Matt.

Hello mate

You can't stop them putting a water meter in, it's just unfortunate. I would look into why you are being on commercial rates and maybe pay a friend or family member who isn't on a water meter to let you fill up there

Don't be hasty, mull it over !!!  ;D  If you don't want to pay a big commercial bill, then stop the other vans filling up there. You'll save a fortune on your water bill. As far as i'm aware you can't prevent them fitting one.

I would have thought you would have to be informed through a letter , And one way to wind up a jealous neighbour is to have vans coming and going everyday .

I have had someone from water company out at my old house and he never battered a eyelid about RO and at my current house they are fully aware that i producing pure water never had a meter at either house .

Depending on where you live you could be in for further grief if you are seen to be running a business from your home. New estates don't like it.

Get some ibc tanks and collect the rain water like I do. Rain water is between 35 and 40 tds.

New houses built in recent years have a clause that a business must not be run from your home .

I can't run a business from mine which according to my solicitor when purchasing our house I am not .

I have not set up a business were customers have to come to my house to conduct business like PC repairs for example , that is a total no .

Now selling water and having vans coming and going  on a daily basis to your home with a clause over it that is a breach of the contract you signed upon purchase of your home .

That's an idea I'm mulling over. Although I would have more ibcs at the side of the house  :o
