School Cleaning Advice
« on: April 30, 2015, 11:49:06 am »
Hi all
We have won a new contract to clean a primary school. We have never cleaned a school before and would like to know how you guys deal with staff holidays and when the school shuts for half term or summer holidays. The school premises officer has never used contractors before and they have emailed me this morning and said that they are closed for half term so don't need cleaners. When we started (in a half term break), we did a big deep clean and said that the additional hours to bring the school up to scratch will be banked and cover the next half term but I have now got 2 regular cleaners in there and I guess they will want to be paid for the half term week.
Any advice on how other contractors work this would be appreciated !!
Thanks
Tim

Hi Tim,

If the school doesn't require a standard clean in the holidays, I would get your staff onto a 39 week contract, 35 weeks of actual work and then 4 weeks holiday pay. You should then be able to have the staff working term-time only and can then invoice for extra deep cleans and pay your guys extra for it.

Hope that makes sense

Steve
